Mourning and Martin nearly come to blows...

    ...at Nets training.

    HERE

    Interesting yet sad to read...

Some quotes from the Yahoo article...

    </font><blockquote><font class="small">Quote:</font><hr />
Mourning approached them and shouted as part of a profanity-filled outburst ``This ain't funny. This is about winning.''

``At least I'm out there on the court, not in the training room. I'm trying to make the best of my time,'' Mourning reportedly told Martin. ``You can't be a leader in the trainer's room crying, `My ankle, my ankle.'''

Season don't look to good for the Nets. I forsee Bryon losing his job at year's end, and the Nets not making the finals. They just aren't hustling the way they used to. It's a different team this year. They don't have that energy anymore.

                Here's more about it:

"Mourning and Nets' teammate Kenyon Martin's profanity-laced trash talking almost escalated into a brawl during the latter stages of the team's workout at the Nets' practice facility. A mocking comment by Martin about Mourning's kidney ailment nearly escalated the war of words into a physical one.

"You want to talk about my kidney, [m----- f-----]" Mourning growled at Martin before being restrained by teammates. "I'll put you on your back. Don't [f---] with me. I've come too damn far for that."

Mourning, a seven-time All-Star signed as a free agent this summer, has battled chronic kidney disease since being diagnosed in 2000. He missed most of the 2000-01 season and the entire 2002-03 season with the Miami Heat because of the ailment, which can be life-threatening.

Thursday's incident, which began moments after the media was allowed into the gym to watch the final 15 minutes of practice, appeared to stem from Martin grumbling about the length and intensity of the workout.

"Be a team leader, [b----]!," Mourning barked at Martin. "I'd practice all day long if I had to. You haven't done [s---] in this league."

"Neither have you," Martin calmly countered, aware that Mourning also never has played for an NBA champion.

Mourning then made a reference to Martin being "in the locker room" with injuries too often this season, then belittled Martin for being sidelined with an ankle ailment earlier this month.

Martin then mockingly said, "Oh! My kidney, my kidney!" nearly provoking the confrontation.

Nets' vice president of public relations Gary Sussman declined to make either player available to the media after practice. Coach Byron Scott, who addressed both players briefly at the end of practice, said no disciplinary action was necessary.

"The practice was very intense, and this is just what it turned into after an hour and a half of really getting after each other," Scott said. "That [level of animosity] doesn't happen too often. I don't know if it's once a year, but it's not once a week."

For who? Martin isn't as worthy as any of the 76ers big guys and they wouldn't want him anyway. Maybe for Kenny Thomas, but I wouldn't do it.
