Does anyone know how his contract will be handled now? It's a 4 year $22 million contract. Does the team just have to pay it every year? Or does the L deal with it a different way?

I'm sure it was addressed in the contract. No way would you sign a guy with those kind of medical uncertainties without some protection for a case just like this.

It probably prorated to a one-year deal.

I'm not sure about this but would the nets now have to get an injury-exception like the Magic tried to do with Grant Hill? I'm not really sure and if somebody found out that'd be cool.

(Edit: oops, nevermind. Thanks ZigZag for the info.)

                  Re: ZO RETIRES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I met Zo briefly last year and he was a great guy. He was working out at the University of Miami Wellness Center with a trainer and a crowd kind of gathered to watch. When he was done, people started asking for autographs and he signed a few while trying to leave. I yelled across the court to him "I hope you get well soon, Zo" and he came all the way across the gym to shake my hand and tell me how much he appreciated it. It seemed that he really genuinely did...he was working so hard to try and get healthy.

So much potential wasted, but at this point, all I hope is he lives a long, productive life off the court.

                  Get well soon, Zo.

Although it is sad to see a player like Zo have to go, he has definitely been an inspiration on and off the court throughout his career. What's great about Alonzo is that even after retiring, he will be a contributor to the community and the people, much like D-rob. He is always lookin out for other people, and he will be greatly missed. I hope he can win this kidney battle, because it just seems right with the kind of warrior spirit he has.
