Will Derrick Rose ever be the same again?

We all know about the terrible injuries to Derrick last year that not only took away his season, but almost his career. He will be out most of this year also it seems.

I thought it would be a good discussion here on OS, do you guys think Rose will ever be the MVP type player he's been most of his career? Or will we see a different kind of player on the court?

I think he will be fine, or at least I hope he will be, he's still young.. However I still don't believe he's ever been an 'MVP' level player and him winning the award was garbage lol

I think when he comes back, he'll become a better jump-shooter

I think he can do it for the simple fact that he has the money and resources to do so. Not many players can afford the best medicine and doctors and still be set financially. With so much on the line, he will probably bounce back from this. Although, I definitely think he'll lose some of his quickness and his leaps.

Take into account ACL tears aren't as damming as they were even 10 years ago. A lot of things that weren't possible are now with the advances in medicine and surgical procedures. Take a look at Adrian Peterson or Jamaal Charles as a Running Back tearing your ACL pretty much doomed your career not too long ago but look at how they've comeback even possibly stronger than ever. Rose will be fine.

I'm more confident now that he'll come back as good than I was when the injury happened. All reports are saying that the rehab is going very well, and the fact that D Rose is one of the hardest workers in the league makes me think this could be like an Adrian Peterson situation.

He will be absolutely fine. Dude is gonna get the best medical treatment in the world.

If anything, I think this pain and frustration will make him a better player when he's healthy.

For the benefit of the Bucks I hope he isn't, but I don't wish any ill will on the guy, he is a warrior.

I think he will, he might not have the same explosion, but I think he will come out of this a more skilled player with less reliance on athleticism. Plus, Rose is crazy motivated to be great for Chicago, no doubt he will come back with a vengeance.
I hope he sits this year out, though. I know he wants to come back, but it would kill me to see him come back too soon and have something horrible happen to him.

I think he will, like said ACLs just aren't the same type of injury they used to be to players as technology/rehab has improved so much. He may not be as explosive during his initial return, but he'll be fine once he's used to playing imo

The injury gives him the opportunity to focus his development in areas he didn't put time into the first time around. As he recovers he add even more piece to his game now. I think he'll be good to go when he makes his comeback, I think his ability to finish at the rim will be rusty but it will come with time.

I got into the NBA Derrick Rose's rookie season(I'm shocked I know so much about the game in depth like I do being I been a fan for a short time) I always had a casual interest but Rose definitely made me keep my eyes on the NBA.

If he doesn't come back it would suck to see that being he is favorite player. But I have faith in the young boy. I don't think he will be as explosive as he was, maybe a tad bit slower but still athletic and explosive nonetheless. I think he will develop a better all around game also, he already has a good all around game I just think he will play smarter.

Knowing he tore his ACL he will always have it in the back of his head and he might be reluctant to play as reckless(in a good way) as he use to.
