The All-Time "10 or more years in the NBA without an all-star appearance" Team

I know All-Star appearances don’t mean much but someone should at least recognize you as one of the better players in the league at least once in 10+ years? Here is my All-Time ’10 or more years in the league without an all-star appearance’ All-time team.

PG – Derrick Harper: A tough nosed guard who was much underrated as a defender. Wasn’t a great point guard offensively but did enough to become a threat if the opponents forgot about him.

SG – Byron Scott: Deadeye shooter who was good in transition playing in the ‘Showtime’ Lakers fast break offense. Was one of the biggest beneficiaries of playing with Magic Johnson.

SF – Lamar Odom: Has the tools and size to be a hall of famer. However, the intangibles just wasn’t there for him to be the leader of a team. Still produced a decent NBA career but it’s a shame he never made an all-star appearance.

PF – Sam Perkins: ‘Sleepy’ Sam was more of the unique players of his generation. A left handed big who was a very savy offensive player. He was the basketball definition of a ‘southpaw’ where some defenders had trouble defending him. And when he developed a 3pt shot, he became more difficult to defend.

C- Tyson Chandler: Obviously, him coming straight from high school hurt the early part of his career. But I believed he started to turn the corner around 2005. Unfortunately, the Bulls traded him away and I told Bulls fans they we’re letting get away a future defensive player of the year. Yeah, I know…it was 6 years later but hey, I wasn’t wrong.

Like to hear some of your ’10 or more years in the league without an all-star appearance’ players.

I'd probably use most of your list but I'd add Andre Miller. The guy, when he was with the Cavs, was one of the best PGs in the league but was stuck behind guys like Jason Kidd in the East.

Some of his early year stats were pretty damn good. Then he led the resurgence with the Nuggets. He was one of the best passing point guards in the NBA during his time.

PG – Ron Harper: One of the top fundamentalist defenders at the point guard slot. His court vision was all-encompassing and he was a big-time scorer when his wheels were sound.

SG – Michael Cooper: Locked down point guards, shooting guards, and small forwards. Could pass, handle, run, leap and knock down treys.

SF – Matt Harpring: A rugged defender and rebounder. Hard-nosed driver. Played basketball like it was football.

PF – Lamar Odom: At 6-foot-10, he could handle and pass like a guard. Presented huge matchup problems. Inconsistency really hurt him.

C- Jeff Foster: An accomplished man to man and team defender. A big-time rebounder who could snag even the toughest traffic boards.

Marcus Camby, Tyson Chandler, and Michael Cooper are the only three DPOY to have never made an all-star team.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I just used him as a list for center because there hasn't been many good big men to not make the all-star team?... Not sure how Chandler is so much better?

I like a lot of these picks, and for the sake of coming up with one of the names not mentioned yet... Robert Horry. Dude was clutch. I don't know if he deserves to be mentioned as a starter on this list, but I'd at least put him on the roster.
