Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Re: Breaking: David Stern To Retire

The only thing about the guy who'll be taking over for Stern, that I remember, is that he said the NBA won't have an all star game in a city like Portland or Toronto! So now that he's commish, guess that'll be even more true.

How can a league even have a team in a city, if they have no confidence in that city to even host an all star game.

Sorta ironic in Torontos case considering they've held NHL and MLB all star games previously.

He is actually stepping down, not retiring. He did say this, so he might be working something behind the front lines after he steps down.

I take back what I said earlier about giving him 2 years.

I'd give him a year instead.

                  I thought exactly this.

For some reason I think he's Stern's puppet.

Stern knows Seattle will get a team and he saved himself from having to face the fans in the new arena.

When the league was on the verge of becoming irrelevant due to Cheating scandals and lack of stars?

No, he is retiring at a good time. Profits are up *potentially way up*, the league is in good shape, and the league has been rebuilt.

Love him or hate him, Stern has been one of the best commishs in the history of sports. Took a sport from on the verge of being destroyed by drugs, cleaned it up, and made it a multi-billion dollar organization. He screwed up along the way, but who doesn't?

He definitely has some red marks in his file, like the refs cheating, but all in all, the guy should be remembered in a good light. But few will because they choose to only focus on the bad.

                        Oh well, such is life.

JVG 4 Commissioner. Jeff Van Gundy would be an ideal Commissioner for the new NBA generation. I can see him in the Commissioner position. At least he's better than his brother, Stan.

He is still the first person on my list I'm going to put my foot through when I see. He cost us the chip in 2007. Suspending Amare and Diaw for the next game. Sure our coach was stupid and played only 6 guys the whole game, but still it was a stupid call that Stern did. But oh the very next year hawks and Celtics go at it. People come off the bench and KG even pushes a ref, but no one at all gets suspended. Yea I remember all that mess......
