    Re: The "All Time" Draft

I'd go with 12 players so they're actual teams, I could see 15 if we were going to do like a tournament or league or something so you can play matchups with alternates but it is a bit much. If it was 15 players with a 15 team league we'd end up drafting a guy like Terry Mills or Raef LaFrentz because they're a "big that can stretch the floor and open up my offense".
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

I know it's implied but for sake of being all on the same page you may want to specify what era bball are we playing - like in today's era we have 3pt line, disney fouls, 8 sec rule, zones defenses, no hand checking etc

Is this assuming each player we pick is playing at their absolute best? Or are we using judgement based on their career?

                  Quick example: T-Mac

If he were taken for his "peak" he would be a stud, top 5 SG probably. But if we make picks based on their career picking him would be a horrible idea due to injuries and what not.

I think we wil go career, you take their career and whatever that is is what you get.

                      Re: The "All Time" Draft

As an added bonus, maybe we should have a 13th round, where we choose a coach for our teams. We all know, it makes no difference how good your team is, if you don't have the right coach. Plus, if someone drafts a team full of egos, don't you think we need to assign that team a coach who can manage those egos. Or, if a guy drafts a team that is built to run (think this year's Nuggets roster), what sense would it make for them to "hire" Phil Jackson? I just think it would add some more depth to the roster selection, as each drafter will have to think carefully about what kind of team they want. We could either do the coach draft ahead of time or after. Just an idea. Maybe with our first round picks, we also choose a coach.

                            1) what happens when someone wants to pick a coach as a player
                            2) probably be more interesting if we pick our coaches as any one of the 13th picks, otherwise it gives first pick a much bigger advantage

Assuming dice is cool with this since he picked already

That works for me, as well. Either, or. I was just thinking it would be a neat idea to add more strategy, per se, to how we pick our teams, rather than just saying "oh, I want Kobe, Elvin Hayes, George Gervin, Rick Barry, and Pete Maravich". Who the hell could coach that team? Only Spalding would have enough basketballs to go around.
