I mentioned this in another thread and I said that it would help, but honestly, it wouldnt. These great teams will get bad eventually and then we would want it back the way it was.

I say make divisions, but when playoff time comes make the playoffs like the college teams and have no division.
T op 4 teams for each section.. seperate them and dont take the geographical location or division into consideration...

top 4 teams east or west given # 1 rankings
and 12 other teams fill in the blocks... sweet sixteen style.

    Id watch.

Thats college basketball!! The NBA is fine !!

Not too long ago the East dominated the NBA. The balance of power goes back and forth, changing things up that drasticly would be a huge mistake.

The travel in the NBA would prohibit an NFL/MLB style setup. For one in MLB baseball you may have a 9 game road trip, but the games will be spread out over a week or so because you're in a particular city three or four days. In the NFL you only travel on the weekends. You fly to the city on Saturday, play the game on Sunday, and fly home after the game. The proposed new alignment of the NBA for next season when Charlotte joins the league makes the most geographical sense, gives fans more opportunities to travel to away games, and is easier on travel. Because of the new tv contract with TNT every team is forced to numerous back to back games. This is because TNT wants no other games played on Thursday night during the regular season unless it's being televised by them. You may have one other game on a Thursday outside of the TNT broadcasted games. Also, the NBA pays the bill for most of the teams travels. They have a contract with Northwest Airlines to provide private charters for each team to travel.

Nah, leave the divisions along. The worst thing the NFL has done is to mess with the divisions. The East will rise again. The NFC used to dominate, now the power is in the AFC.
