Guess Kobe's gonna beat the hell out of the practice facility again. Need to get Joe Clark with it and bring the megaphone in and yell this time. Or Capt. Harris. Think Joe had the most success with that though.

another thing I noticed. Points guards are practically non-existent when Kobe brings up the ball. Not sure if the combination of that and The hackahoward had anything to do with it

I wonder if Stern is going to fine Chuck Person for not getting the job done.

            ..................

LOS ANGELES -- For the second time in five games, Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol watched the final minutes of the fourth quarter from the sidelines. Kobe Bryant says that Gasol has to take it into his own hands to change that.

"Put your big-boy pants on," Bryant said after the Lakers' 113-103 loss to the Orlando Magic on Sunday that dropped the team's record to just 8-9. "Just adjust. Just adjust. You can't whine about it. You can't complain about it."

Gasol was subbed out with 6:07 remaining in the fourth quarter and the Lakers up 84-83. Orlando outscored L.A. 30-19 the rest of the way. Gasol ended his night with 11 points of 4-for-11 shooting, seven rebounds, two assists and a block in 29 minutes.

"I don't get irritated," Gasol said of the benching. "I like to be out there. It's upsetting for me as a player but I won't allow it to irritate me."

It was the second time the benching occurred with Gasol's family in the building. The first time came against Marc Gasol and the Memphis Grizzlies and Gasol's father and younger brother, Adria, were at Staples Center for the game Sunday.

Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni downplayed the difficulty of getting Gasol back on track.

"Just talk to him," D'Antoni said. "There's no magic words out there. He's going to have to play. He still had 11 and seven and he's playing, but we just have to be a more dynamic team. We're slow right now. It's just athletically, we're struggling."

D'Antoni added that he didn't want to "lose Pau," but Bryant assured that would not be a problem.

"We're not going to lose him," Bryant said. "That's just not going to happen. I've been around him long enough. I know how to deal with him."

Gasol told reporters last week that painful and persistent tendinitis in both of his knees has been limiting his athleticism. Bryant, who publicly supported Gasol last season when he was the subject of constant trade rumors, had no interest in any excuses being made by the former four-time All-Star.

"Pau has got to make some adjustments, obviously, to his game," Bryant said. "He might not be posting up as much as he likes, but he just has to adjust.

"The reality is, I've adjusted, I've never run this many screen-rolls in my entire career. But, I've worked on it. I've worked on handling the ball. I've worked on coming off of screens and making plays. I'm used to being in the post much, much more but you have to adjust.

"You have to master what it is that we're trying to do here and Pau is talented enough and he's good enough to be able to do that."

              Re: 11/26 - 12/2 Game Discussion Thread

i didnt see the game last night as it wasnt on tv that i was aware of, but this is what ive been able to gather so far. am i missing anything?

i saw that dwight missed 14 4th qrt free throws - hack-a-dwight. he's already missed 100 ft so far this yr. and he's shooting under 50%

i saw that mike.d benched gasol again. i also see that the lakers were winning when pau went to the bench then proceeded to give up 30 4th qtr pts in 6mins of action w/ pau on the bench. so who's playing pau's minutes and what are they contributing?

also saw that kobe told pau he needs to find a way to adjust, that he himself has had to adjust, that like it or not everybody has to adjust to the new system and that he needs to just man-up and find a way to adjust.

but nowhere do i see any talk of how mike.d is making adjustments to his system to help out the players. what i mean is i hear mike.d talking about making adjusting to the player but where are these adjustments he's talking about in the actual games?

besides benching pau is mike.d making any other in-game adjustments?

my guess is that mike.d wont is hesitant to bench howard in the 4th qtr despite his ft issues because he is afraid he wont re-sign next yr. seems hack-a-dwight is the pre-2mins gameplan of the moment against the lakers this yr.

i see that mike.d is still selling the nash cure-all dream. i really hope nash is the answer because if he's not and thats the coaches main selling point, will we start seeing players taking subtle shots thru the media at the system.

4 all the complaints about mike.b defense seems the defense has gotten worst and the offense isnt really that much better. maybe in reality this is not true. maybe this team is just bad defensively and its doesnt matter who the coach is.

i see that affalo dropped 30, most of which i presume was on kobe? was kobe actually playing defense or was he doing his roaming thing again?

any other observations that can be taken away from this game?

is this for real? wow... Kobe needs to take a long look in the mirror. They lost yesterday because of the Terrible FT shooting by howard and the blackhole basketball that Kobe was playing.

You're playing some incredibly lazy ball if you allow the magic to score 40 on you in the 4th at home.

Watching the tail end of the Laker game last night, all I saw was the Laker players literally running away from the ball on defense.

I thought it would take longer for Toni ball to kick in. That was utterly pathetic and oh so familiar.

Walking out of practice to send a message is one thing. Telling Pau to put on his big boy pants and shooting this veiled threat out there is another.

Kobe's got that franchise by the balls. And none of the Laker greats (looking at you Magic) want to single him out for it.

James Worthy ripped the team collectively after the Magic loss. But they need to call it how it is. Just because Kobe can put up points every night doesn't mean he has what it takes to be a leader of men.

Why did D'Antoni take Pau out in the 4th and how come Jodie Meeks only played 9 minutes after dropping 21 on Friday?
