Looks like Hamilton will be out for a while. Torn plantar fascia. I don't think this is what the Bulls envisioned when they thought they would be competing for an NBA title. Kirk Hinrich and Jimmy Butler in the starting backcourt.

Rip Hamilton has torn plantar fascia

      By Nick Friedell | ESPNChicago.com

CHICAGO -- Rip Hamilton has a torn plantar fascia in his left foot, an MRI revealed Sunday.

      More On The Bulls

Can't get enough NBA news and notes? ESPNChicago.com has all the latest on the Chicago Bulls. Blog

Hamilton injured the foot in the third quarter of the Chicago Bulls' win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night.

The team said Hamilton would return the court "as his symptoms permit."

The injury occurred with just under three minutes left in the third quarter. Hamilton had to be helped off the floor by teammates Kirk Hinrich and Luol Deng and was putting no weight on the foot.

"I felt something pop," Hamilton admitted after the game.

After sitting out of 38 games last season because of various injuries, Hamilton was understandably worried about the diagnosis.

"Just the simple fact that there was nobody around," he said of the play in which the injury occurred. "They always say the worst injuries are when nobody's around and you didn't fall down on nobody's foot or anything like that so it's just one of them things that when it happened it scared me. When I felt it I didn't want to put no pressure on it, but it wasn't a whole lot of pain. That's why it was so freaky to me."

Despite that, Hamilton did return to Saturday night's game, hitting three of four free throws in the final 20 seconds to clinch the 93-88 victory.

"When Rip came back, (trainer) Fred Tedeschi said we could use him if needed," coach Tom Thibodeau said. "We needed him. I have not talked to them about the injury, we wanted him out there for the free throw situation."

Heard that might be a "good" thing that it's torn:

It turns out Richard Hamilton tore his plantar fascia in his left foot late in the third quarter of the Bulls Saturday night win over the 76ers, according to Bulls sources.
But that’s sort of the good news.
Plantar fasciitis, the painful inflammation on the bottom of the foot, can last months. At times, treatment will include a tear so the healing can begin more quickly. Thus, this is not generally considered as serious an injury and Hamilton could play again in a week or two.
The Bulls are believed to be treating a return as the symptoms ease. When James Johnson was with the Bulls, he suffered a similar injury and was out about a week.

How in the **** do you lose an 18 point lead with 6:00 to play? I tell you how.
Don't rebound off missed free throws, be slow on your rotations leading to a wide open perimeter, turn the ball over, forget what got you the lead in the first place. Yep, that's how you do it.

Oh and Bismack, when someone raises their eyebrows don't join the paratrooper club. Thanks.

I think that's what happens when Jeff Taylor is playing the 4 and having to guard Aldridge. That loss is on Dunlap.

Mullens couldn't do a damn thing either. He couldn't even get the rebound after those two missed FT's by Portland, which would have essentially closed the game. Knicks coming to town on Wednesday so this losing streak could go on for a while. Had the golden opportunity tonight.

Toronto is doing hack-a-Javale, and it's pretty boring.

Can't believe the Clippers came back and won that game

I still see the same thing though

Their talent is just too much for them to be out there having to hustle that hard for 1 point wins.. Please Fire Del Negro, he doesn't belong in a large market at all

No Reggie Evans(Flu) tonight vs. OKC and no Lopez as well as Averah wants to hold him out til the end of the week to recover from his Foot Sprain he suffered last week.
