    Rookie of the year

It has to be Lillard, he's practically putting up the same exact stats as Irving was. The way he plays, taking and making those amazing 3 pointers. He doesn't play like a rookie even though he is and there is so much room for improvement and to get better.

Davis is a tall power forward, big wingspan no wonder a player like him gets 8 rebounds a game. You can get 4 already after missed free throws.

This is a quote from the ESPN site in a chat with Hollinger:

    Pip (PDX)

With Lillard producing numbers consistently (for the most part) and Daivs Oft injured. Where do you put his chances at ROY?
    John Hollinger (12:30 PM)

Pretty strong. Here's the thing: If Davis comes back and plays 55-60 games, he's gonna win. But Lillard has put himself far ahead of everybody else, to the point that if Davis has any setbacks and only ends up playing half a season or so, he'll probably end up winning.

So he thinks, even after Lillard keeps putting up the same stats without getting injured, that Davis will get the ROTY award only playing 60 games?

We're 1/4th into the season but the winner seems clear to me.

    I see Lillard as ROY..

That being said I could see where they are coming from in picking Davis.

He's actually been very effective when on the court.. 15 and 8 is pretty sold numbers, when you throw in the fact that he's getting over 2 blocks per game and over a steal per game that's just a bigger bonus.

I think he just gives you more from a offense and defense standpoint. His first game back from injuries he gave them 3 blocks and 3 steals.

Another thing to factor in: Lillard is playing more than 10 minutes more per game than Davis is. 38 for Lillard, 27 for Davis. If Davis was up around 38 per game I think we could realistically see him around the 17 and 10 mark, with closer to 3 blocks per game..

That being said I think he is also doing more with a much worse supporting cast.

And big men are super hard to come by right now. It seems practically every other team has a solid PG, while there is only a handful of good bigs in the entire league..

Edit: actually his per 36minute numbers are 19.4 and 10 with 2.7 blocks and 1.6 steals..

And that's still with less minutes than Lillard.

If he stays healthy and is able to start logging those bigger minutes it would only seem logical that he would take the ROY award.

        Re: Rookie of the year

Kyrie had a much more efficient rookie year and he only played around 30mpg whereas Lillard is playing 38mpg. I'm not knocking Lillard, he's doing his thing out there.

Right now, Lillard is likely to get the rookie of the year, but if Davis can stay on the court and get some more minutes, I think he may come away with it.

As you said the season isn't even close to being over, how can the winner clearly be anyone?

If Lillard keeps it up he has a good shot, but it's probably a long shot given that Davis may very well put up the same point totals but in a more efficient way then add in the defense he provides. Also the media hype, etc.

Also I find the rebound argument funny, by that logic 7fters should all be getting 10+ rebounds a game(Which the Lopez brothers do not)

Not to overreact or anything..but Lillard is my pick. He's more NBA ready than any other rookie. Dude doesn't look like a rookie out there

I liked Davis as the favorite. But if Lillard keeps it up and should be a lock. Davis getting hurt didn't help at all. But I'll get back to you guys after All Start break.

Probably Lillard, but I'm hoping for Mirza Teletovic
