Why would they necessarily have to cheer for their home town team? That's wierd.

Re: 1/7 - 1/13 Games Discussion Thread.
Lol, I bet you would.
Serious note Dre, in your opinion of Laker fans, do you think they would really jump ship and cheer for the Clippers? I'm talking your average Laker fan. Don't you think they're the most arrogantly prideful fans there are in sports? They go out of their way to talk down on that entire organization and their fans. I don't think they would ever give up their pride and root for LA's "stepchild" [in their own words].
You and Magic jumped ship thoughComment

Re: 1/7 - 1/13 Games Discussion Thread.
I don't blame people for not supporting the Lakers right now, they play the worst basketball in the league, there is nothing to like about them. But at the same time it's not fair to say that the guys that stay dedicated are just too stupid to cheer for another team. lol.Comment

A good number and raider/usc fans LOL
To go along with that, most of the guys who supports their teams through thick times seem to handle losing and still supporting their teams much better than people here who blame everybody for everything except Kobe, not matter what happens.
Especially for a team that hardly ever has to build through the draft, its crazy to see the throwing under the bus of guys if they aren't doing what you want how you want when you want... Kinda reminds me of Kobe..
Wait, alot of those are KOF anyway.Comment

Re: 1/7 - 1/13 Games Discussion Thread.
Na I am a fan of basketball, team basketball. I don't treat sports like religion. By that I mean, I was born a Laker fan, into a Laker family, nothing wrong with that. But there's no way I'm gonna justify cheering for an abomination just because I was born a Laker fan. I'm not gonna cheer Kobe chucking just because I grew up watching him and cheering for him. I don't enjoy that brand of basketball, I don't enjoy watching how little the basketball moves, I don't enjoy watching these guys one bit.
I was actually a Kobe fan during his most recent two titles because he trusted his teammates. But after that year against Orlando in the finals, he completely went back into his me against the world mentality.
If someone honestly enjoys watching him play still and watching that brand of basketball, good for them.
I choose to enjoy good basketball. Doesn't mean I'm a Clipper fan 100% though. Means I wouldn't mind seeing them win a title, especially that guy Chris Paul. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. He does things the right way. Plays the right way and is humble.Comment

Re: 1/7 - 1/13 Games Discussion Thread.
Tryeing to figure it out what KOF could mean lol.
Anyway I don't really understand all this fan talk. Fans is someting that scare me. Like in soccer where fans from different teams can kill each other. It's scary.
Maybe it's bad to say that, but if it wasn't for Kobe I woudn't watch Lakers's games. I just enjoy watching that man plays and I realise it's the end of the road for him. So I will be there watching. That's all. I've never liked Dwight Howard, the Magic is a team I coudn't watch play when he was there, it was horrible basketball in my opinion. I like half court offenses. Like the Lakers used to be, Pacers, Celtics, Knicks, Spurs. Why would I need to choose a team to cheer for when I can watch them all?
People that likes their teams more than the sport itself are scary.Comment

A few posters here on OS actually think Laker fans will start being Clipper fans. That's the furthest from the truth. Laker fans are the most prideful breed there is. There's a three things they would never do, root for LeBron, the Celtics or the Clippers.Comment

Are we really talking bout Bron's minutes. This dude is the most freakish athlete in the NBA.
We're not talking about a 200 lbs PG, or a 225 lbs Forward.
We're talking about Lebron James. I've watched basketball for the last 30 years & I've never seen an athlete play in the NBA of Lebron's stature & physical abilities.
BTW how many times has Bron been injured in his career
In not the biggest Bron fan, but this cat does stuff on the court that people his size & the weight just ain't supposed to do in the NBA

Its one of the worst, and most fickle fans bases out there.
A good number and raider/usc fans LOL

Now I'm probably the only Laker fan who wants this team to struggle, and the only reason I say that is because the Lakers need to change this "win now" philosophy and start "farming" and "progressing" their own players. If the Spurs can't find late draft picks who can contribute I don't see why the Lakers can't.
Last year we included our first round pick in the deal for Ramon Sessions (a 2nd round pick) which IMO was a giveaway. If Lakers would've still had that pick, the Lakers could've drafted Perry Jones III, (a player I think the Lakers could've used) This year, even with all these Lakers struggles, say they miss the playoffs and end up with a lottery pick... They don't even have that pick because they also traded that away. So basically, Lakers can quite possibly be in the same boat next season with no good rookie, Kobe declining and a bunch of has-been's, were-nots, ain't-gonna-be's, (outside of Jordan Hill) haha.
I personally would never jump ship to cheer for the Clippers. I dislike the Clippers, I never liked them, I never paid attention to them when they were trash forever, I don't care for them. Majority of the Clipper fans were/are Laker fans, I'm here in Los Angeles, I can tell you this is most definitely true. LA fans are some of the worst as 23 said, LA fans are very unknowledgeable about the game, which makes it hard for me to live in this city because I can't talk sports with people cause of their ignorance, which is why I now come onto this site haha.Comment
