First NBA game, what do I need to know?

So on February 2nd I will be attending my first NBA game.Oklahoma City Thunder @ Cleveland Cavaliers. Since I'm from Buffalo I obviously don't have a local team and I've always wanted to go to an NBA game so the closest teams are Toronto and Cleveland. Once I heard OKC would be here on a Saturday I know I had to go.

So what do I need to know? What time should I get there? Can I get there early and go near the court to see warmups even though I'm sitting in the upper deck? Best food places in Cleveland in or out of the Arena?

I'll say get there early. Because you can run around the place and do what you want. Food wise... Unless your ready to spend 40-50 bucks on food. I'd bring my own. But even that seems tacky to me.

I'll always remember the time I went with my friend to a free game at Nets stadium. 10 row back from court side. We said we would only have one beer...... SMH... We ended up spending about $50 each on drinks and food lol. The game was awesome though! Went to overtime vs the Clippers.

When I go to Thunder games, the hour before they let you stand right behind the camera guys and take pictures and stuff. The players sometimes come and will sign things or say hey or whatever.

Temperature was fine here, not sure about up in Cleveland though.

I still remember my first game, Hornets vs. Cavs up in Charlotte.

Shawn Kemp,Baron Davis,Chucky Brown,a rookie Andre Miller some great Domino's pizza and a purple and teal Hornets basketball!!!

Man I played with that ball for years lol!

Laker games are where to be at.

I try to go to at least 5 games a year, last one I went to was against the Suns a couple of months ago, I'm really trying to go to the game against the Celtics next month, but stupid stubhub nor staplescenter has group seats available it bugs me.

Try to go to game as early as you can. Like bringtheheat said, some of the players come out and sign and take pictures and stuff, so it's pretty neat, I feel like Lamar Odom knows my name so many times I've seen that guy. There's just so much stuff inside/outside the arena that you just won't have time to do if you show up like 15 minutes before tipoff. For example, here at the Staples Center, across the street, you've probably seen it on TV but they have like this plaza type thing, restaurants, bars, arcades, Sportscenter's over there, it's pretty neat. Attached to Staples Center is this store called the Nike Vault, which really should be called the Kobe Vault, its basically your ultimate shop place for Nike gear towards LA, Kobe and basketball haha, but it's a pretty dope store, I know a couple of seasons ago they had this giant black mamba in the store, not sure if its still there I didn't go this season, but here's what it looked like...

The temperature can be a bit chilly, not like 50 degrees, but it could be like 68-72 something like that, but you won't really notice it cause it does feel like room temperature, so bring a jacket just in case. It's going to be a fun experience really, being at games live is much different than on TV, you'll probably catch yourself continuously looking around Quicken Loans just admiring the building.

Being around that many people who are all rooting for the same team is just alot of fun. You might make a friend with a person sitting around you, a high 5 buddy!

Take your camera, bring your gear and get there early. And get your food before the game starts!

Just remind yourself that a lot of the people sitting around are gonna know a lot less about basketball than you and are probably going to constantly holler stuff that doesn't really make sense like "Slow it down!" or insist on the star player shooting every time he gets the ball.

Definately will have to go there sometimes in my life... before Kobe retires preferably so I can have the chance to witness one of his fadeaways with my own eyes.

This or next season for sure you have to come, hell I'll go with you haha.

The funniest part is being an arena with 19,000+ people all talking at the same time and still being able to hear Kobe yelling "aye" when he thinks he got fouled on a jumper haha.

Thanks guys! I'm wondering how many people will be there rooting for the Thunder. That's who I'm gonna cheer for. Anyways should be a good turnout with the Thunder being such a big name team

OKC is a pretty popular team because of the talent they have, so I would imagine there would be quite a few Thunder fans in the building.

Well the game went great, sucked that the Thunder lost but it was at least high scoring 115-110. Kyrie Irving was so sweet.

                            Snagged a couple souvenirs too!
