Sean Elliot on NBA Fastbreak Sunday Night:

Sean Elliot: "LeBron James is the best player in the Eastern Conference"

Now I like Sean's commentary, and I agree with most of his insights, but am I the only one who thinks this is a joke??? Sure, LeBron definitely has the potential to be best in the east and probably will be in 4-5 years, but now? Over Mcgrady, Iverson, Pierce, Davis, Kidd, JO, and Carter?? Some of those guys at ESPN are really on LeBron's dick. I mean just take their dunk of the night. If LeBron has a dunk at all, its instantly dunk of the night. They dont give dunk of the night to great dunks, they often just give it to a player who had a great game (see J Craw on saturday, Bron on Saturday)

I don't know, as of right now, the way Lebron is playing, I would agree completely with Elliot. Take a look at his numbers and he is putting up some really strong numbers. He is playing the best ball out of all the guards right now.

The dunk Lebron did last night was pretty nice, but I would have probably gave it to I think it was Mason last night in the bucks game where he made the tip dunk. Neither was really that great, but that's my opinion.

I totally agree. I heard the same thing and I couldn't help but laugh. Bron is extremely talented, espiecially for a rookie, but as of right now he is definitely not the best player in the eastern conference. I don't even think the would be in my top 5.

Don't get me wrong though, i'm not a LB *****. The kid is sick... but you have to be realistic.

I mean look at the stats. McGrady and Pierce both average more points, boards than 'Bron, and similar assists. Bron also gets more minutes a game. And lets not forget the head to heads. Point Guard, different roles. LB is putting up these numbers while completely initiating and directing the offense. PP and Mac are premier scorers but PG is a whole different animal. Making sure everybody is where they're supposed to be, controlling the tempo, etc...Also, if LB had been playing like he has (without Davis) for this whole season, he'd have more ppg than Mac and Pierce while shooting close to 50%.

                      From the point.

The position he plays is more demanding, any coach would agree. Could PP or Mack be as effective as Bron at the point? Maybe, but doubtful. Scorers rack up assists drawing the D. Decent assist #'s don't mean a player could effectively control the flow of a game and set up teammates the way LB does.

Bottom line, Elliot is a little pre-mature. Mack, Pierce, AI and Carter are all elite players in this league and LB is still a little behind, but how many years before he's league MVP material? 2 years tops. LB has the potential to avg a triple-double.

Past 10 games, yeah LeBron has been great, but you cant just call him the best basketball player in the east. You could say hes playing the best ball, but not the best baller. I mean look at the stats. McGrady and Pierce both average more points, boards than 'Bron, and similar assists. Bron also gets more minutes a game. And lets not forget the head to heads. Both Pierce and Mcgrady dropped 41 on the Cavs and won close games for their respective teams.
