Royce White: Nearing Return to D-League

Royce White has stated the ordeal is almost over, and should be returning to D-League mid Feb!

At long last, rookie Royce White finally appears to be getting closer to playing professional basketball under the Houston Rockets' umbrella. It's been more than two weeks since the Rockets suspended White, who has yet to play a minute for … Continue reading →

I hope this guy is getting help with his problem, I did find him a bit cocky in his interview though calling the Rockets ignorant and such.

I wish the interviewer asked about what he was doing about his problems and asked questions about if he knew just how safe flying was in comparison to driving, etc.

Don't know the guy but he seems to be embracing the victim role. There's plenty of places to get top notch professional help for these types of issues and God knows he and the Rockets can afford it.

Horrible interview all around with little insight into how long he's been this way, what he's doing about it, what progress has he made, etc.

Good. The guy has a lot of potential as a player if he can get all this **** straight.

Hmmmm...when this story initially broke last fall, my opinion was that if you get the opportunity to play in the League, or even ride the bench in the League--YOU GET YOURSELF ON THE PLANE. Also, can't the team physician inject him with any member of the benzodiazapine (eg Xanax) family of drugs prior to flight? Many of these have a half-life of 1-2 hours. Perhaps players are forbidden from being prescribed to these?

but it's going to be incredibly hard to root for him...

For people with real mental illnesses, that is much easier said than done.

Anybody catch the story "Real Sports" on HBO did on him last week?

After seeing that, I can see where both sides are coming from but even still, it would be hard to root for him to not succeed, unless he was out here doing some sort of heinous act against society lol.

There is a difference between coping and using it as a crutch.

Seriously, look into what White has been doing. He doesn't want to overcome this, he wants to dictate to the Rockets how he should handle his own illness.

He's acting like a bitch and deserves to be thrown out of the NBA for giving people with a mental illness a bad name.

finally Rockets fans can rejoice and not hear Royce run his mouth and let his play on the court do the talking

Been following this story from the beginning and throughout...from the beginning I understood his position and still do...he just went about the situation horribly. Honestly, the Rockets should be commended for sticking with him....

I definitely fall into the "he handled this terribly" camp, but I really hope to see him succeed simply because his style of play is really nice when it's on point.

I think what's being overlooked though is that he's absolutely a huge project. Sure he's talented but...

Ball dominant (and turnover prone) 6'8 players that aren't quick enough to guard SFs, are physically overmatched size wise and about average athletically against PFs, and can't shoot (at all) don't generally have bright careers in the league...

I'd love to see him succeed, again, because point forwards are just freakin' cool, but this wasn't his biggest hurdle to doing well in the leage. His game isn't suited to filling a role. Unless he blows up and becomes a star he's really going to have to adapt his game to fit in this league somewhere.

I expect him to do work in the D-League with his all around skills. Hope he practiced jumpers and FTs between all those tweets and statements.
