    Re: 2/5-2/10 Games Discussion Thread.

It's really quite simple: When Rondo is on the floor, the offense is predicated on having him hold the ball, wait for guys to get in their positions, and then the rest is 10-15 ft isolation. When he isn't on the floor, the guys have freedom to play at their own pace, feel the ball more, and generate some rhythm that is not designed from a chalkboard. Furthermore, Rondo is constantly gambling on defense. This strategy works sometimes, but when it doesn't, the game essentially becomes 5v4, and that's a huge disadvantage.

Right now, the team is balling. All convincing wins. Pierce and KG both had horrible shooting nights last night (something like 11-40 combined until 3OT) but they still managed to win. I'm not gonna predict their demise in the playoffs, because we know how that always ends up.

Seriously it's not Orlando, you don't have a bunch of snipers around Howard and Howard isn't healthy. He just isn't that good offensively.
Metta is the only guy who can knock down a shot? Come on now.. You don't need a bunch of snipers for a Howard driven offense to be successful

They are playing better now than before he got hurt, but nobody thought they were really a sub .500 team. Not a chance they have a better chance of doing anything in the playoffs without him.

I don't think he said in the long run, but for sure the Celtics are playing better right now.

My man said 'we shall see who's right in the end' in response to comments about them not being better off without him. How will we see if they're better off without him? By them winning in the playoffs? What a game? A series? Conference Champs? Finals? If they don't win at least three series in the playoffs, then we'll see that they aren't better off without him.

I agree with you and I agree that some Celtics fans are getting a little too amped about their team without Rondo and are severely underrating Rondo. I think they're right in the sense that this current Celtics team is NOT structured well for Rondo. Rondo is a half court point guard who needs to dominate the ball, for the most part, to be really successful. The Celtics have a team that needs to move the ball around to be successful. At Pierce's age he's going to do much better in a system that involves the entire team getting the ball around as opposed to Rondo creating by himself.

Alright I was overexaggerating a bit with the whole best player however a legit good quality talent can be removed from a team and they get better after that has happened. Off top of my head I remember when Bruins traded Phil Kessell and everyone was up in arms about how they could replace the production of goals and all he provided plus add in Marc Savard who was either on first line or 2nd line practically had his career ended. Well they won the cup shortly after both events with overall same team. Randy Moss? Patriots made it to Super Bowl shortly after and everyone was complaining oh why would they do that prior to them making it there. Heck weren't Lakers better last year without Dwight Howard? Yeah other stuff plays into these circumstances but whatever this arguement wouldnt end until end of season if we kept at it.

Looking to see if we can put a clamp on Tony Parker and the SA Spurs after last night's poor showing from the Nets on the defensive side of the ball.

I'm sure we'll be fine on defense, but our offense is still shaky to me.

                      Oh how I miss D.Rose.
