You can't tell me that you still see a post game like this in the NBA. The post game is a lost art now...

Didn't watch the video but post game is absolutely a lost art in today's NBA.

Sad thing is I don't see it returning soon. It seems like its moreso the game style and coaching styles have changed to almost completely remove the need for a big time inside scoring threat.

I wouldn't necessarily say big men of today's game can't play well inside, because honestly the large majority of them aren't even given the chance to do so. And likely never will.

McHale had more moves in the low post than anybody in history. Back then, you could dig down on big men's dribblings, but they couldn't be doubled like they are today. Zones cramp the bigs' operating space as well.

The post up game is almost extinct now, thanks to all the blatant rule changes that Stern and his bean-counting buddies enacted.

I thought Bynum had a really really great post game, it seemed to get better each year... his footwork was good as well as his touch around the rim.

Bynum and Kevin Mchale aren't even on the same planet. McHale's post game is head and shoulders above Bynum. Hell they shouldn't be in the same sentence

The only things Bynum has that McHale doesn't is a 30+ rebound game, the tendency to sit out large portions of seemingly every season, and the ability to grow an afro.

Anyhow, the most unfortunate part about the lack of dominant low-post play is the sheer absence of a nearly unstoppable hook shot. For the bigmen who master it, it is a great go-to shot, a high percentage option when a teams' shots aren't falling otherwise.

Yao had a pretty solid post game, since he's been gone though no one really touches him, they all either finesse their way to the basket with face ups or just power their way to the cup.

EDIT: Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not saying Yao touched McHale, I'm just saying Yao had a pretty good post game, which is really what separated him from the other 7'6" guys that came and went in the league.

I wouldn't say being on the block is the primary weapon of any of those guys outside of maybe Bynum and Nene, its an after thought. Back in the day there were guys who just went to work on the block on virtually every possession, you don't see that anymore.

Its definitely lost..and that's sad. You look at most of the big men in the league now and figure alot of them are there just because they're tall...and that's not a far off thought either.

The Pacers dump the ball into Hibbert who inconsistently produces from the Post.

Lost is way too dramatic a term for me. Diminished yes. Lost sounds like its dead.

Sometimes I wonder if any of the guys in today's game could do some work on the block.

It's tough for me to say they can't because I've actually rarely saw any if them even have the opportunity.

Post play just isn't utilized the way it once was.

If you look back, guys like Ewing, Shaq, Robinson, etc were averaging as many shot attempts as guys like Kobe, Melo, Durant.. Big men just aren't used the way they once were.
