        Re: 2/19 - 2/25 Games Discussion Thread

Wow man, that Lakers/Mavs game was something else. One of the most tightly contested and consistently close basketball games I've ever seen, biggest lead of the whole game was only 6. Kobe is something else to see live man. Its really hard to capture just how frustrating those ridiculous shots he can make are unless you're there in person for him to rip your heart out. Especially when it feels like half the crowd are Lakers fans. Watching Dirk and Kobe go back and forth was great and really exciting. Atmosphere at the game was fantastic, felt like a playoff game.

Anyways, my comments on the actual game. Thought the Mavs really played pretty well considering OJ Mayo and Collison couldn't do a thing. Thought really as a team the Mavs played Kobe pretty well, Crowder did an incredible job on him really, Kobe just made some amazing shots. Don't understand what Mike James was thinking leaving Nash all alone to hit that wide open three. Also don't understand why Carlisle called timeout with 6 minutes left up 90-87, killed a lot of momentum we had gained. Thought the techs were pretty silly, but that's typical Ken Mauer, dude's tech whistle is way too quick. Don't understand what OJ Mayo did to warrant a tech, nothing was even directed at a ref. And that call Kobe got when he just fell down was pretty atrocious.

Dwight Howard is pretty sad to watch play these days. He's so clearly not engaged. I give him props for hitting some clutch free throw's, but his offensive game is just nonexistent. There's no reason he shouldn't be able to finish through Chris Kaman or miss short hook shots over Elton Brand.

Steve Nash is still amazing to watch play the game, his court vision is something that you really can't capture on TV. Antwan Jamison had himself a throwback game, that was interesting. MWP was atrocious. Jodie Meeks misses an insane amount of wide open three's and I still love Earl Clark's game.

Finally, is anyone not enjoying this offensive surge from Vince Carter recently? Even at his advanced age, its still fun as hell to watch Vinsanity play basketball.

        EDIT: Here's Dirk about Kobe:

"I always said he’s the best player in my decade here. I’ve been in the NBA a long time, and he’s the one player I love to watch."

got to see kobe play live 1x at msg. it is something special to see, esp if you catch him on a night when he's on.

          ------------------------

          according to sportscenter:

          kobe - 2nd straight game w/ atleast 38pts on 60% shooting
(supposedly making him the oldest player in nba history to ever do that)

          1. i guess now we've entered into a new age where everything is based on shooting 60%

          2. screw his stats, ill take the win please

          3. in case you've missed it, this entire post is stats sarcasm

Nah, the refs reviewed it and only gave him a flagrant 1.

If he punched him in the head he would have been ejected, which didn't happen, so I guess the refs saw it as a love tap
