Actually I think Parker and Rondo are just as suited to take a back seat as Parker. All three of them have the ball in their hands a lot but I think you can say that Parker can work off the ball as good or better as any of the elite point guards. Maybe that's a tough discussion to have though.

Paul and Rondo need the ball in their hands to be effective mostly, but they can take a back seat as long as there's someone else doing the scoring.

With the bulls it's a tough call, sure Rose is their best player and leading scorer but its obvious they don't need a 25ppg PG to still be a damn good team.

Obviously they would take Rose, with youth and potential being the biggest factors, but its tough to say Parker wouldn't be just as good of a fit.

I don't think people realize how well Parker can score the ball when it's needed. And I think his ability to fit in well with other stars and not always demand the ball is huge. He's really the only guard in the top 5 discussion who can take the back seat that well.
I don't think it's a tough call at all for the Bulls. If Parker played on the Bulls right now, they still don't beat Miami in a 7-game series. As with a healthy Rose as the team is constructed now. But I think they have a better shot at Miami with Rose than with Parker.

Now if we look at the flip side of the coin, although the Spurs have the best record in the league, I still have my doubts about them beating Miami or OKC in a 7-game series. It's possible, but if I was to put money on it I'm taking either Miami or OKC. If the Spurs had a healthy Rose at the point, I'd put my money on the Spurs winning it all. Heck, give the Bulls Tim Duncan and Ginobli with a healthy Rose and I think they can beat Miami in a 7-game series.

Not to start anything or insult the Bulls, but Chicago would have as good a chance against Miami as San Antonio does against Oklahoma City. The best player(s) resides on Miami and Oklahoma City respectively and it would take an entire team effort for San Antonio or Chicago to over take them (if Rose was 100% healthy).

I'm really surprised how much love Parker is receiving from both the media and fans. He was not too long ago considered the third banana of the trio of himself, Ginobili and Duncan - I even recall a writer comparing him to Horace Grant in his HOF candidacy - and is routinely lambasted by Spur fans. People usual like to pick at the things he doesn't do well or great (court vision/passing and three-point shooting) and over look the things he excels at (scoring, finishing in the lane and playing within the offense). And, like ex mentioned Parker is extremely good, as are Duncan and Ginobili, at playing off the ball. Pop routinely runs a play where Parker will get deep post positioning and score over a smaller PG (think Chris Paul or Darren Collison).

I don't believe he's better than Chris Paul or the most deserving player for the MVP award, but I do believe he deserves to be (and is finally consistently) in the conversation for both. He does most everything well, but still needs to have dominating playoff run to quiet the remaining doubters.

I agree with you but I also think it's sad that someone who routinely shows up in the playoffs(has a Finals MVP to show for it)has to have a dominating playoff run to quiet the few people that are still out there that doubt him.

Personally, I felt he put this to bed in 2007

I know, but many a Spurs fan I've encountered (online and real life) has said to me that he is their least favorite of the Big 3. He also is routinely criticized by Spur fans for supposedly not showing up during big games or fading in the second half of big games (for example last year's Game 6 WCF).

I've been thinking lately that Parker has to be the second greatest European player ever in the NBA (Dirk being #1). Would you all agree or disagree with that opinion?

I'd say he's the most successful European-born player(along with Dirk and the Gasols)ever but I don't know if I could call him the 2nd greatest European born NBA player so I'd probably disagree.

Seems like Marc Spears reads OS...

"LeBron is the best player in the NBA, by far. But if you want to give it to someone to change it, why not [me]?" Parker said with a laugh. "Charles Barkley had it one year [1992-93] even though M.J. [Michael Jordan] was the best player. Steve Nash got it [twice from 2004-06] even though Kobe [Bryant] was the best player in the NBA. But for me the most important thing is we win.

"If it [the MVP] happens, it happens. If not, LeBron is unbelievable. But for me, I don't think about it. It's not in my hands."

Victim of being surrounded with Tim Duncan, Pop and Manu. Tim and Pop gets most of the credit for the success so tony somewhat losses some of his thunder whenever he is mentioned but Tony is elite.
