jordan, hakeem, shaq, duncan, garnett, kobe, pau, dirk, lebron.

so this new "spread offense" is cool to look at, but in the end 99% of the time it comes back to the same thing. he who has the best low-post player wins.

ppl only say the league changed, because there are no more dominate bigs. but make no mistake about it, in the finals last yr, lebron was the most dominate low post player and he only won after he learned to go into the post.

so i disagree, it doesnt have to be a center anymore persay, but somebody still needs to be dominate in the post. history proves it

Yep, in a addition to being good to unstoppable in the post. Howard is now the last hope for traditional centers dominating the League. Bynum's knees are done, his best days are behind him now. Its too bad, we've got a good look at an entire skill set and approach to the game going extinct.

Edit: ^^ I wouldn't say it's extinct ^^ Teams are going to need a low post player to keep defenses think. Just think of the Mavs that won the championship. As much as people might think of Dirk as shooter. He spent a lot of time that season (and still now) backing guys under the rim. Same can be said about the Heat. Wade and LeBron became huge post-up guys for them during their run to the championship.

I also don't think having the best low post player equals win anymore. The way it use. With the way the rules have changed. And rotating defenses. I still think it comes down to a balanced attack and good old defense at the end of the day. I don't think the Power Forward position has changed much. I just think more PF are taking more 3's to keep the defense out of the lane.

your right cept for shaq they all can step out, but the most important factor is still that they were the best low post presence on the court in the finals. thats the common link, not their jumpers or rolling ability. all that other stuff they can do to me is besides the point.

at the end of the day, in this league, championships are still won through having the best the post players. the only real difference now is that perimeter players are the best post players.

go back the last 23 yrs, so thats since 1990. the team in the finals that has had the best low post player has won practically every championship. with maybe 1 or 2 outliners in there. these are the facts.

the mavs were not better than the heat, yet they still won because dirk was the best post player on the court. and when all the money was on the table, dirk was posting up and lebron and wade were shooting jumpers.

there are alot of factors, but the 1 thing that has remained constant over the last 23 yrs. whoever has the best low post presense wins. whether that be a traditional type center or a wing like kobe or lebron. same thing.

Yeah reread your post and overlooked Shaq's name the first time.

And your last paragraph is what I'm saving. I guess we are saying the same thing.

I don't think post games are dead. I think post games are a weapon instead of one's entire arsenal.

Shaq was routinely criticized for never adding to his game. Though people will always find something to critique, I guess.

It sounds to me that Shaq wants Howard to be like him: a dominant force inside instead of a dominant front man in the paint.

Curry versus Bradley/Lee should be fun tonight.

                    Should be a good game.

Lmao at Bynum. He felt like his troll crown was being taken away from him so he went ahead and dropped the "It's my life" line

Dude gives no dambs because there's a bank in every city. I'm not even mad at him though, I'd just want him nowhere near my team.

I'm at a loss here... Dwight's body type and athleticism, or Shaq's body and the bullyball mentality. I do feel though Dwight should be absolutely killing everyone, is it even possible for Dwight to even play like Shaq? I'm confused cause I don't know if it's safe to say if Dwight played like Shaq, especially with his body and capabilities/athleticism, he would definitely be alot better than Shaq was.
