Carter should have stepped in on Splitter and take a two instead.

    Ah well, great game.

Why the heck does any one but Dirk get the ball in game winning situations? It's like the 3rd time I've seen Dallas do that

I'am guessing it could be because there was only 5 seconds on the shotclock remaining. Not enough time to get good post up position and I don't know if giving the ball to Dirk on the perimeter against Diaw with only 5 second remainings is such a great idea.

        Just a guess.

I'm on board with that one. I'll be watching more of that game than the Bulls game. Jennings going 20 and 20!

I'd say Dirk needs at least 10 seconds to get set up in that situation. Time enough for the Mavs to inbound to a guard and then get Dirk in position and get him the ball, give him about 5 seconds to operate and get a shot or drive. The Mavs only had 5 seconds in the game at that point, Vince was clearly the better option in that situation.

You do raise a good point though 24th, between OJ Mayo, Darren Collison and Mike James, the three of them seem to not understand who this team's best player is. They miss Dirk consistently on good opportunities for post ups or even open shots. I'm sure some of it comes from Dirk missing the beginning of the season, but its frustrating to watch, especially since Kidd and Terry were so good at getting Dirk the ball in his spots.

New York is trying TOO hard to give the division away to the Nets.

17-16 since Jan 1 while the Nets are 22-12 in that same time frame. Should be an exciting last few weeks for the Atlantic Division to see who'll win it.

For a team that lives by the three, they're shooting too poorly. I see them crumbling a lil' more, Melo is not playing like himself for a long time now (probably because he's been playing injured), they dont have Stoudemire and their defensive stalwart is having knee problems.

Their bench is too old and the only "consistent" scorer they have is J.R Smith. Consistent in the way he's the only guy that can put 20-30 points on a given night, but not on ANY given night. Felton can turn it on at times, but still, that's too little too low for a "title contender".

Things are going to get better eventually but the harm may be already done in the sense they can end up facing an unwanted opponent in the first round. They would be facing Boston right now, but I can see the tie being against Chicago or Atlanta.
