Man the Pacers are playing great. They are the first Eastern team in a while who has a legitimate shot against the west. I gotta say, Carlisle is doing a great job with this team, a huge difference from Zeke.

They are going great...really enjoyed watching a few of their games lately.
Maybe it's a big call...but I really think they can win it all.
They have the tools to play with the West (ie, legit big men + post game)...and they should have home court advantage.
IMO that is the absolute key factor.
Being in the East, unless they slump, they should have the best record in the NBA.
That would mean 4 home games against a western team, bound to be bruised from the WARS that the west play offs will be this year (think about it...you could finish second and get Houston first up...it's going to be punishing for anyone to come out of the west).
So, Indianna gets 4 home games...and they have a strong away record.
They'd need to win 3 home games from 4...and 1 away from 3.
Pop got it spot on when he said they are unique in that they have multiple post options...Jermaine, Artest amd Harrington etc, as well as having good guards + some outstanding on ball defenders.
That's a nice combo.
O'Neal is going from a very good player to a possibly great one right before our eyes...if he went up another level in the play offs (which he is capable of) man would they have a shot at it all.
Let's just hope they keep it all together...ie Artest doesn't go crazy or something and wreck it...because it would be nice to see a decent finals for a change.
IMO they match up very well with the Spurs, T-Wolves and Dallas. They also match up well with LA. Possibly Sac would be their worst match up.Comment

Monkey, I hope your right, but let me jsut throw out my .02
The Pacers played great starting the game on a what, 14-2 run. THey played good ball, minus JO and Artest, and still had a hard time winning this game. This game should of been over at halftime
With that said, this is a testiment to this years team. I have always said a win is a win, pretty ugly, whatever. I would like to see them get some blowout wins, if for nothing else, for there confidence.
With that said, IMO, this year, if they keep playing like they have up till now, I think they have a legit chance of getting to the NBA finals. They have beaten Detroit, and the Nets prove to be a problem, but the Pacers have the exorcise the demons against the Knicks in 2000, and I can only hope they could do that this year as well. As for a NBA championship, thats a hard call. IF the Lakers are healthy (BIG IF), then they are almost unbeatable in a playoff atmosphere. If the Kings and Spurs are healthy, they are also very good, but hopefully the PAcers would have an advantage from there A. winning on the road this season and B. earlier wins against these teams. Dallas is another team that is scary in the west, but which Dallas team do you end up playing.
I guess the bottom line is, the season is far from over, but nothing would make me happier (other than getting accepted to college) this year than seeing the Pacers in the 2004 NBA finals, and I would be [censored] estatick(sp) if they won the World championship.
Sorry for the long postComment

So, I was wondering, from the Pacers fans. Well, anyone actually. Do you guys all agree that Carlisle is a huge improvement from Isiah? I already think so, but I just wanted to hear what you guys thought.Comment

Hell yeah. I hated Isiah, and I think this is a dramatic improvement
With that said, I will truely judge him based on his playoff performance.Comment
