I don't know about that. I think the media is warming up to the Pacers.

They are still off the radar and as a Piston's fan I understand it. It's hard to win Championships without a go-to guy or a big time threat that can play with his back to the basket and the Pistons have neither. Indiana has Jermaine O'Neal who is really the closest player the East has to being an answer to the big men of the West. They also have Artest who is the best answer to containing the best perimeter threats from the West.

I love the potential of Detroit for the future and I do think they'll be legit contenders sooner than people realize however it all falls on the shoulders of Darko. If he's the real deal, they Pistons will become legit. Everything people think Darko could be is what Detroit needs more than anything. Detroit has a very good perimeter game on offense and a very good defense. Their only weakness is a back to the basket guy.

All that said, even though Indiana probably matches up the best against the Western teams, I still think they'll end up getting beat by an Eastern team in the playoffs. The reason if because Carlisle coaches such a predictable game and a grueling style which usually comes back to haunt his teams playoff time. Indiana will simply have to be good enough to overpower teams to get whatever they want despite other teams being ready for them because they won't make adjustments or surprise anyone in the playoffs. I actually believe that the versatility that Detroit is playing with, Larry Brown's coaching, and Detroit's younger legs and depth make Detroit the team that'll be best suited to get to the Finals this year from the East. I still think they'll get pounded once they get there though.

Yep, off the radar. If you didn't tell me I wouldn't have known. Out here I don't think there are any Eastern teams on the radar other than the Cavs though.
