Yeah, I totally admit it was a missed call one way or another. However, I don't think it was a matter of officials saying, "Lakers playing, I better let this one slide so they have an advantage."

I tend to be pretty optimistic on the officials front. I understand the Tim Donaghy situation, but I do not believe that means all officials are crooked, biased and terrible. Throughout my basketball experience on every single level, I've seen officiating imperfection, some nights worse than others. As I stated earlier, I just think it's those guys being human.

I love playing basketball and I moderately enjoy coaching it. And I even like the idea of officiating. However, I could never cross that threshold because I can't stand the lose-lose nature of the job. Officials could get 149 consecutive calls correct in a given game. But if they make a mistake on that 150th call, it's all over. They either suck at their jobs, are terrible human beings, are fixing for the other team, or a bit of all three.

It has to get better. If you are old enough to remember Game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals then you kind of know what I mean. That was one of the worst officiated games in NBA history.

That game made you believe that Stern controlled the refs and made them favor the bigger market OR we had a bunch of refs with gambling problems.

I just watched this game on youtube earlier this week after a bout with nostalgia over the old Kings' teams. That game was just atrocious. After that game its easier to swallow today's officiating a bit better.
