Re: is kobe done?
You can love Kobe as much as you want, but to say he is a player all his own in NBA history couldn't be further from the truth.
His whole game is a inefficient knockoff of Jordan.
I can't stand the drastic overstatement of this mans value in the grand scheme of the history of basketball. Was never a real leader and probably the most glorified, overrated volume scorer in the history of basketball.
I'll give him credit for his passion to play the game and his ability to maintain his body (which has now caught up with him) but that's about where it stops.
There is a whole other discussion to be had in regards to the fabrication of this mans legacy, but it's really not worth it.
Is he done? No, because he cares too much about records and such to let this be it.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: is kobe done?
This. This is also why lots of people will never be won over by newer talent, few people can look at a young guy and be like, "Ok, he's better than my favorite player was".
Sure it'll suck when Kobe, Duncan, KG, Pierce, Ray, Nash, Dirk, and all those guys leave, but I think the league is in great hands. LeBron for another 10 years, Durant, Wade, Rose, Paul, Rondo, DWill, Dwight. And even younger guys are going to be exciting to watch like Kyrie and Damian Lillard.
So I agree with you tyklug.
1984, 1996, 2003. We're definitely due for our next great class and batch of superstars that will lead the league 2020-2030.
We've heard "this is a weak draft class" for 3-4 years in a row now. Sooner or later that's going to catch up with the league."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: is kobe done?
Can't say it any better 13.... I've always hate hearing "Kobe is being Kobe" line. It's something that has always bothered me. At the end of the day it's just not good basketball. And it's not something people should treat as a good thing. Just looking at the All-Time Scores list.

personally im not going to try and derail the thread......
but to me the bottom line is that you guys are posting as if what you are saying is fact when in reality its not fact. its just you own personal opinion about kobe's game. you dont like the way kobe plays. its ok your entitled to that opinion. however at the same time, its just thats your opinion from your pov and nothing more.
the fact is that more respectable basketball minds or equally respectable basketball minds than the folks on these boards have enjoyed kobe's game. so in the end its all subjective.Through Holy Union God Lives Inside For Everyone

Re: is kobe done?
It's not a fact that the man is about as inefficient as it possibly gets? It's not a fact that when this guy was building his "legacy", he wasn't even the best player on his team?
Those aren't opinions from my POV. They have been well documented now for more than a decade.Last edited by JODYE; 04-15-2013, 01:13 PM.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: is kobe done?
but that doesnt clarify who is right or wrong. and just because maybe more folks share in your beliefs doesnt make it truth either.
its just means that we see this particualr issue differently. and by the very nature of that fact, it is a subjective conversation.Through Holy Union God Lives Inside For Everyone

They also aren't subjective opinions just because you say they are.
You know, they have these great things called statistics that can back up what you are currently calling "subjective".Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: is kobe done?
His shooting percentage directly goes back to my prior statement of his poor shot selection. If he took more efficient shots throughout his career his percentage would have been higher. Kobe chooses to throw up ridiculous shots, when they go in they look pretty. When they don't it looks absolutely ridiculous.

Re: is kobe done?
I'm sorry I wasn't trying to derail the thread. I think Kobe could of had a way better career profile than he already has. I'm not saying he's not one of the greatest of all time. I'm saying he could of been better than what he is at right now (Or at least have more rings).
But my opinion if he is done or not?.... I'd say he going to make a come back. I just don't know how more years he can play.Last edited by jeebs9; 04-15-2013, 02:31 PM.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: is kobe done?
This is a thread about whether or not Kobe is done after his injury. Like any thread, there is room for sidetracking but an extended discussion of how good of a player Kobe has been throughout his career is and will be considered trolling from this point forward.
In summary, y'all not getting this thread locked bc you can't control yourselves. If it's between you or the thread, it will be you (esp since ALL of you should know better by now).
