What's this "hypocrisy" you speak off and this certain group of fans. Too much subliminals, not enough owning up to shots around these parts. I wanna read other basketball heads opinions on pro ball not decipher the damn Da Vinchi code.

Re: Eastern Conference Playoffs - 1st Round Discussion Thread
the double standard im speaking of is mainly from the media, and the fans who seem to buy into double standard set forth by the media.
however, if i was taking shots at anyone around here in my post, or in the future for that matter, ill definately call out names.
but i dont think i need to rehash all the media stigmas against melo. and besides thats not the point of this thread. just wanted to say up front what my rooting interest were heading into the playoffs for the eastern conference.

Re: Eastern Conference Playoffs - 1st Round Discussion Thread
Half court ball has never been an issue with us.
It's when we try to play uptempo is where we struggle at. How this series will go all depends on how Johnson and more importantly Lopez plays since he's not been the same player he was prior to the ASB.
What's your definition of a "legit playoff basketball team" though? You talking about going deep or making a run to the Finals? Or style of play?
As far as "legit playoff team" meaning a team that can make a run or do anything of worth in the playoffs. I just don't see it out of them and don't out of the Bulls either, but I think the Nets got a bad match up in this case and the Bulls are going to out them in 6 in an ugly, slug it out series.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: Eastern Conference Playoffs - 1st Round Discussion Thread
As far as the Knicks, I'm just not worried about the Celtics. I'm sorry, but this isn't the same team as the past teams that turned it on in the playoffs. They don't have 2 of the main 4 guys they had. And honestly, their reputation for turning it on is a little overblown in that they've always been a top 4 seed when they made a run, not a .500 team like they are this year. Only thing that concerns me with the Knicks getting through the first round is the health of Chandler and K-Mart. Assuming they are relatively healthy, this series shouldn't go past 5 games.
Heat in 4, maybe 5 if they let up and Jennings, Ellis, JJ get hot for a game.
I think the other 2 will be close series but I like the Nets and Pacers in 6.Comment

Re: Eastern Conference Playoffs - 1st Round Discussion Thread
Well they are near the bottom of the league in assists, and have one of worst half court vacuums in the league in Reggie Evans. Even with PJ at the helm, I've seem some really iso-heavy, poorly executed half court basketball out of that team on numerous occasions. Obviously not as bad as when Averah was running things though.

To address your second point first, they've finished right where they predicted to be at. A team that could get between 45-50 wins, finish with a Top 4 seed and do no better than the 2nd round. That's why I asked what your defintion of a legit playoff team(which is still kind of a vague term) because nobody knows what to expect from most of the teams in the playoffs anyway.
One word that describes this team is inconsistent because you really don't know what to expect from them so nobody really knows how good they are, myself included. They beat up on the bad teams, except when they get embarrassed by them and get punished by the great teams except when they sweep the Pacers, blow out the Thunder in OKC, split with the Clippers and Knicks.
As far as the Offense, you've seen how me and LionsFan have constantly bitched about this Hero Ball Offense this team has run all year, which made their Offense real stagnant and their Defense awful...until it needed to get key stops, which they've prove they can get.
EDIT: After reading my 3rd paragraph, I just realized it was kinda pointless for me to make a prediction about this series if I don't know what to expect from my own team haha.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 04-18-2013, 05:26 PM.#RespectTheCultureComment

Would not surprise me in the least bit if Indy loses. Theyre lucky they got ATL and not CHI. Pacers have to figure things out quick if they want to make any noise and it needs to start on getting that defense back on track. Paul George needs to find his game too.
Ill say Pacers in 6 but I dunno.......
As for the other games...
Heat in 4
Nets in 7
Knicks in 5
It seems like everytime I doubt Boston they prove me wrong. We'll see what happens this time around, but if I were a Knicks fan I wouldn't be nervous or worried at all. Just my opinion of course.

Re: Eastern Conference Playoffs - 1st Round Discussion Thread
Bucks will win 1 game. Have beat the Heat once this yr already, lol but Jennings gets hot when he plays Miami, goes off for 30+ some games, Chalmers cant guard him. So Fear the Deer for 1 game. LolComment

Re: Eastern Conference Playoffs - 1st Round Discussion Thread
Heat 4-0
Nets 4-2
Pacers 4-1
Knicks 4-2
The only series I had a problem predicting is NY/BOS. I just think this is the nail in the coffin for this current group in beantown.Am I trolling? Am I serious? Did Dennis Green and the Cardinals really "let them off the hook"? What about the children? Find out next weekComment
