they should have the best players in america if they are going to allow pros. wheres tmac, cwebb, kobe, iverson, duncan, carter, garnett, jkidd and so on. people are gonna watch them to see if they lose. if anyone made a superstar team now, most of the players on the team now arent going to be on that list. they dont even have anyone over 7 foot. when i watch them play, im gonna be looking for yao ming, nowitzki, peja and the rest of the euro players.

I mean if they nominate people they should just put shaq kobe duncan, KG.......the whole 9 but it would be excited though heh.

most of them aren't playing because it's "just" the world championships and not the olympics and they want to rest/not get injured. the US will probably win, but the best players in the tournament aren't gonna be playing for the US this time around, but people like nowitzki and gasol and peja really don't have nearly as deep of a supporting cast. esp. w/ my boy nick collison waiting to devestate... heh... does anyone know what channel they're on? what day? thanx.Comment

The main players have all played multiple times in this thing so they've served their country selflessly enough for me. As for players like Kobe, he wasn't asked last time, heck Vince wasn't asked until Glen Robinson got injured. But based on some of the comments I've read here, why should they risk injury, this country just roots against them anyway. It's a no win scenario.Comment

i for one don't like the pros playing in the olympics or world games representing USA. the college players should get the exposer and the experience. NBA player are a bit spoiled but then again, they're away from their families 9-10 monthes a year, injuries are possible, and it's free. the players are not paid anything for playing in these tourneys.
that's why there's a big decline in the college game. college players have nothing to look foward to other than the college season. everything else is griven to the pros: olympics, $$, a name for themselves. remember back when ESPN or CBS would hype up big games with Georgetown vs. UNC with Ewing vs. Worthy (and some guy named JORDAN) or Houston vs. Louiville (Phi Slamma Jamma vs. the Doctors of Dunk), the list goes on.
what's good about these less talented NBA players playin' in this tourney is it will give them a name for themselves and put to competitive taste in there mouths they can use in the NBA...I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...Comment

I read a good article on Espn.com about the rest of the world closing the gap on USA basketball. it wont happen for a while, but you can see that its already starting. I dont think the Kobe's, Tmac's, or Duncan's will really play until the USA gets beat. I would love to see them play in the Olympics, but I dont think that'll ever happen. I wish we could have another USA team like dreamteam 92, when the best of the NBA played. Just imagine if we could get the best of the NBA for the 04' olympics. The starting lineup would be:
PG - Jason Kidd
SG - Kobe Bryant or Tmac
C - Shaq
PF - Tim Duncan
SF - KG
