Re: What Have You Borrowed From NBA Players?

The only really permananet mainstay I have is the D-Rose cradle while driving to the basket. This has been absolutely crucial for me considering how putrid I used to be about protecting the ball when I drive.

The semi-mainstay I have is Tyreke's spin move and euro-step. I don't cover nearly as much ground as he does (only 5'9-5'10) but it's very effective when done in the right situation.

The last one that I only pull off once a game is the Jamal Crawford shake and bake. Every variation. Every. Single. One. So deadly on a fastbreak. Especially the behind the back one combined with the Reke spin layup. So so good.

If I actually got in proper game shape and tightened up my handles I would be playing for Grambling. But alas, too much work and I'd probably be deep on the bench anyhow.

One thing I like to do is using a screen twice for a pull up jumper. Tony Parker does this alot. One of the few moves nba players do that I can actually pull off in game.

Dirks kick leg and his step back, I perfected the moves after the Mavs won it in 11 I spent summers "before I worked" going outside and doing that move bc its fun and helps balance momentum. Plus it looks sweet. Oh and Andrew bynums knees ...jk they're not that bad

Re: What Have You Borrowed From NBA Players?

I try and did my best of a few moves I saw Jason Williams did back in the day:

                  1. Inverted crossover.
                  - With my right hand I do the cross over from within the inner side of my right leg to the outside, back into my right hand.
                  - I used it scarcely (just in tight 4th quarters and no more than once a game) and right after doing a couple of normal crossovers so the defenders werent predicting it. Was quite usefull to either pull up or drive, but not if done repeatedly.

                  2. Semi between the legs layup.
                  - With my right hand, as I jumped, I started the motion of the between the legs, from the outside to the innerside, but as I got to the middle (ball bellow leg) and met the other hand, I rather went back to the outside with the ball still on my right hand.
                  - Did it mostly when alone in fastbrakes (without D, sometimes twice or more a game).

                  3. Fake between the legs layup, pass.
                  - Just like the above but instead of finishing with a layup, hit a teammate with a pass.
                  - Did it only after doing the above and when in 2-1 or 3-1 fastbrakes. Probably no more than once a game.

They all may seem difficult to do, but werent ... just takes practice and a favorable context (like not so great defenders, hehe) ... then again, I tried to do them recently, but age has caught me bad (34), couldnt handle the ball like I used to, thus I was nothing special nor skilled back them.

Idrk who perfected it but I often use the half-spin move in the paint.

Re: What Have You Borrowed From NBA Players?

CP3's half spin, i'm not the greatest in protecting my dribble so I like to do it as it gives me a little extra room between me and the defender for a split second before moving to the basket. Since I usually play with pretty bad people(I suck too) it actually works as they try to go for the steal so then I go for the mid range or floater(i'm short and watched too much CP3/Tony Parker when I started to really play pick up games in HS).

About the only NBA moves I've tried to use in a game, my game is pretty bland as I just try to play good D and set up the offense for my other 2 good friends who have played ball most of their life.

Haven't really borrowed anything from nba players but, one thing ive been perfecting is having a quicker release on my shot. If theres anything that i stole from a player it'd have to be dwade floater, but im still perfecting it. even though the point is moot because i only play with my brother, cuz i hate playing with random people at the park and most of my friends are playing basketball in college(one even played with kawhi leonard at san diego. Unfortunately for me i wasn't able to play when i was in elementary school and by the time i got to HS i felt i was to out of shape. So i stuck to only playing in p.e. and playing with my friends in the street.

Wade does it a lot. I also like to do his move when he catches a pass, he kinda goes slow then explodes the opposite way, I'll try and find a video.
