Didn't the Bobcats change their name to the Hornets?

Why does no one refer to them as the "Charlotte Hornets"? Did it not go through, or is just the "New Orleans Pelicans" bigger?

Just wanted to mark this as the day the acquisition of Kendrick Perkins sparked a debate about stacking your team.

"NBA deputy commissioner and COO Adam Silver previously said it would take "about 18 months" for the Bobcats to change their name. That means Charlotte could once again become the Hornets by the 2014-15 season."

It's not official yet. They are voting on it at the NBA Board of Governors Meeting on the 18th and 19th.

I wonder how this will impact merchandising sales. Some people will get stuff just so they can be like "I got a ____ Bobcats jersey"(something that'd be rare like a Durant Sonics jersey), but don't see many people really buying Bobcats stuff for other reasons.

Correct. The colors also will be voted on. Jordan better gives our Purple and Teal back. Not that stupid Purple and Carolina Blue.
