Re: REFS PROTEST
the guy messed up and deserves a punishment. Not only did he mess up once but they had a JUMP BALL? if it was inadvertant and saw that the nug's actually had the ball after the whistle, why not give them the ball? maybe thats in the rules? if so discipline the league for shotty rules. -

here is my point of view on this whole thing:
I will be the first one to yell at the refs at any HS/college/pro game, and I do hate the fact that some of them really do just plain SUCK. With that said, they are human. Even the best of them make mistakes, and yes, they do get punished. That is not the refs argument. The refs are arguing the NBA is on a power trip. The young ref made a mistake, and it was fixed. I didnt see the game, but appartely it had a big outcome on the game.
Refs have totally ****ed up a call that cost one team a game, and got suspended for one or two games. There are two three things I think the refs are protesting
1. The long suspension, considering his call wasnt that bad
2. The fact the NBA made it public, usually that stuff is kept in -house, and I think they were upset about that (just my opinion)
3. THe NBA's power trip. the NBA said they would "discipline" any ref taking part in the protest. The refs took that as a slap in the face.
I dont know which side is right, as there are always two sides to every story, and we well never know what has happened behind the scenes. I do know this though, refs are human, and there contract expires this season, which if this excaled, could be a hurdle in having refs next seasonComment
