Barkley has been saying how much the NBA sucks for years but no one bothers to pay attention. Now when you have Jerry West comment on the state of the NBA and how it's now a teaching lead instead of a "polished" league, people start to listen.

Detroit is a defensive team, but that wasn't it... Portland was pitiful. Ben had 19 boards and Rasheed had 9 last night... When you are missing enough shots that two guys combine for 28 boards...you have an Offense problem!!

Yeah, they suck. Even when the NBA was in your guys "Golden Age" Im sure temas sucked and scored in the 70 sometimes or 60s or whatever. And so what if the scores arent in the 100s everygame, teasm actually play defense now, and I personally like it. Do you watch old games?? Its like the guys are stoned on D, and just dont care. I think the NBA is great, and wouldn't want any rules implemented to make it easier on offense.


Go watch hockey, they really score alot in that league.

You're comparing Apples to Oranges. Hockey and Basketball are not the same game. In fact, scoring is down in hockey because the league and refs are allowing more interference, clutching, and grabbing. Lower scores are a natural by-product of that.

Basketball on the other hand is allowing more traveling, more time in the paint, less charging calls are being made... with all of those changes, scoring SHOULD BE going up! It's not.

In the 80's the Pistons were the defensive stallworts of the NBA. The NBA hadn't seen defense like they played. They were STILL giving up 88 points per game.

Scoring is down because the fundamentals are dwindling.

I'll agree with you Clay, the problem in Portland is that we have no outside shooting except for Derek Anderson. That's the weak point for the Blazers and if they can't score inside they can't win.
