    Best NBA Drafts by Position

It's easy to pick out which drafts in NBA history were the most stacked, but one thing I thought would be interesting to have a topic for, would be to see what drafts people think was the best for each position?

Meaning which draft had the best C depth? Which had the best PF depth? Which had the best SF depth? Which had the best SG depth? Which had the best PG depth?

It won't make the list, but I remember in 2009 so many people were saying how good the 2009 draft would be for PGs. 2009 draft was the year of the PGs(9 of first 21 picks of draft were PGs), unfortunately though, most didn't end up being as good as they were supposed to.

The 2009 PG class hasn't been a total bust. Ty Lawson, Brandon Jennings, Jrue Holiday, Stephen Curry, & Ricky Rubio have all been really good, and should continue to improve.

Darren Collison & Jeff Teague have had solid careers, so far.

Patrick Beverley, A.J. Price, Toney Douglas, & Roddy Beaubois have all been solid role players.

However, the best PG draft is 1960 - Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, Lenny Wilkens. Two top 15 players ever, and one top 50 guy.

In second, I would say maybe the 1996 draft class? Allen Iverson, Steve Nash, Stephon Marbury, Derek Fisher.

Or if you consider Iverson a shooting guard, that draft had him, Ray Allen, & Kobe Bryant.

1987 wasn't a bad point guard class, either. Mark Jackson, Muggsy Bogues, Kevin Johnson, & Kenny Smith.

For SF, I've always liked the 1998 draft. If you consider Vince Carter a SF (which he has played several times), then Antawn Jamison (if you consider him a SF), Paul Pierce, Rashard Lewis.

Another compelling SF draft was 1999. Lamar Odom, Shawn Marion, Corey Maggette, Ron Artest, Andrei Kirilenko. The PGs in that draft weren't awful, either.

Going way back, 1982's first three picks were SF - James Worthy, Dominique Wilkins, & Terry Cummings. Two of those guys are Hall of Fame members, while Cummings averaged 21 & 9 for the first decade of his career.

For PF, how about the 1985 draft? Charles Oakley, Karl Malone, A.C. Green, Wayman Tisdale, Xavier McDaniel, if you call him a PF.

2003 Was a pretty solid class for small forwards. Lebron Is gonna end up as a top 5 player of all time and If Melo plays his cards right he could end up in the top 25-30.

1995 had a pretty good draft for PF's. Kevin Garnett, Rasheed Wallace, Antonio McDyess, Kurt Thomas, Theo Ratliff.

2002, too. Drew Gooden, Nene, Amare Stoudemire, Carlos Boozer, Luis Scola.

Re: Best NBA Drafts by Position

Haven't posted here at OS in a while, but here are some good drafts by position:

For Centers, 2007 has three standouts: Joakim Noah, Marc Gasol, and Al Horford. 2001 could also make a case for this: Tyson Chandler, Pau Gasol, and Zach Randolph. 2008 is looking decent too: Brook Lopez, Roy Hibbert, JaVale McGee, Nikola Pekovic, and Omer Asik (and JJ Hickson since he's forced to play C nowadays).

For Power Forwards, 1995 and 2002 are deepest as mentioned by DutchMastah7.

For Small Forwards, 1998 and 1999 as st0rmb11 said are pretty decent.

For Shooting Guards, definitely 1996 with AI, Kobe, and Ray Allen.

For Point Guards, don't forget about 2005: Chris Paul, Deron, Felton, Nate Robinson, Jarrett Jack, Monta Ellis, and Lou Williams.
