if Cleveland gets in a tie with the 8th seed at the end of the season, they won the season series against Philly & New York, but Boston won the seaosn series over Cleveland....

plus off-topic, to whoever stated that Denver won & got them tied for 8th in the west, Denver owns the season series with Portland & Utah, so thats in there favour.....

Yes that's true, but in acutality, as of this moment, Utah is percentage points ahead of Denver. They are only tied in the fact that they are the same number of games back. We're going to have to wait till the end of the season to find out how they really end up. But if it is a 3 way tie at the end, Denver is going.

What happens with a 3 way tie between the knicks, cavs, and celtics because the knicks won the season series over the celtics but lost to the cavs who lost to the celtics so if its a tie for 8th place who goes?

I would assume in that case, they would like at division record, or is it conference record , I dunno. Whatever the second tie breaker is.
