    In 20 Days

David Stern's reign as comissioner comes to an end on Febuary 1st and Adam Silver takes over. What is the best thing Stern has done for the league, the worst thing he did for the league, and the most important thing Silver needs to do when he takes over?

    Best: Globalizing the game
    Worst: Over expansion
What Silver needs to do: Make lottery public
They got the big fella down there inside, and if you slow the game down a lot he'll get into position. You know he gone bang you all night.-Ben Wallace on Shaquille O'Neal at halftime, game 5 of the 2004 NBA Finals. Hope nobody takes this out of context...

Best: Taking the league from tape delay status to games being showed around the globe and All Star Weekend.

Worst: Seattle. Enough said. Dress code is a close second.

First thing Silver needs to do: A tie between finalizing a new tv deal. Preferibly with NBC and TNT. And getting a team back in Seattle without having to move one except maybe the Clippers. L.A. is and will always be a Laker town so move the Clippers to Seattle and rename them the SuperSonics.

The Clippers made their start in California not the Lakers

Best: Played the role that he cared about the game instead of just the money

Worst: Made everything about the money

Best: Helped spearhead globalization of the league and sport. And helped bring the league into the digital and Internet age.

Worst: Took a thriving and successful franchise away from a basketball - hungry market. Planted said team into a smaller, less appealing market do in large part to croonism, IMO.

2nd worst: Helped emphasize the concept of "player first" marketing and dumbing down of team play, IMO.

First thing Silver must do: Give Seattle back a NBA franchise, while also somehow making a 31 team league palatable. Sign a new TV deal that is great for the league's further national and international growth and away from ESPN.

Best: Was light years ahead of other pro sports in innovation and marketing that brought the game to its apex in the late 90' s.

Worst: Got way too comfortable and full of himself and has not had a new meaningful idea in a decade.

Silver: Needs to desperately find a way to make the regular season more relevant.
            Good job! Good effort!

The Best Thing Stern has done: Globalization of the game. I think many people already mentioned that.

The Worst Thing Stern has done: Allowed two lockouts that caused the league to miss games.

What Adam Silver needs to do: Make sure labor relations are good between the league and union. However, I'm not to sure about him. I feel another lockout/strike coming soon.

As much as people hate him, I can't really hate him much..after all, he was the commish who brought NBA to Toronto.

Though he also brought/took away NBA from Vancouver. NBA really wasn't serious about Vancouver having a team. How does any league give up on a team after just 6 years? Grizzlies and Expos(in MLB) unfortunately had same issues, horrible ownership.

If any sport ever wanted to have a team in Canada again, they should do so,but making sure that one of the big companies(like Rogers or Bell) owns them.

Best: cleaning up the sport from the cocaine hazed mess it was in the late '70s and allowing Magic/Bird/MJ to be themselves and market them/their teams. This led to great marketing and globalization of the sport whereby in terms of participation it's equal to or better than soccer in most places.

Worst: Got too complacent and turned a blind eye when Seattle needed him most in that situation. He also pretty much did a Pontius Pilate when it came to the Grizzlies as well. That's one thing he's been public about wanting to see rectified at some point in time though I think it's pretty much a pipe dream now. (Vancouver not Seattle)

Thing Silver Needs to Do: Bring a team back to Seattle ASAP and keep labor relations at a cordial level rather than having a work stoppage again.

I was gonna say something about the clipper thing, but i just let it go.

Best. got rid of the drug infested mess the league was in, and globalized the nba

worst. brainwashing his protege to where now silver is probably just gonna be another stern

thing silver needs to change. Well for starters lets not have anymore lockouts.

Silver needs to continue the trajectory of international growth of the Brand.

He should continue to expand and market the value and importance of having the D-League--perhaps even sanction aa developmental league at the international level. Hopefully, in this context, Rondo plays a few games there before returning to the League as it would provide some exposure.

If Silver can fix the horrid schedule, superstar treatment fouls, rigged draft, no personal/botches(CP3 nixed yes I'm still a salty Laker fan.) that's a decent start.
