    Well, the Knicks are in

With the Knicks win tonight and the Cavs loss, the Knicks clinched a playoff spot.

With the Celts loss tonight as well, it seems that the Knicks will have the 7th going into the playoffs and will face the 2nd-seeded Nets.

Should be great for the papers and sports radio.

    Matchup Check:

    Marbury vs Kidd

J Kidd is hurt, so I almost give Steph the advantage, but Kidd is lockdown on D and even without a jumpshot is money. PUSH

    Houston/Hardaway vs Kittles

Allan and Penny vs Kerry Kittles is a no contest. Kittles shoots the 3 well, but thats it. He can't put it on the floor and he can't defend. Even though Penny is 57 years old and Allan is playing on one leg they can still take Kittles all day long. Advantage NEW YORK

    Tim Thomas vs Richard Jefferson

Tim is overrated. RJ is underrated. Richard really came on when Kidd and K Mart were out. He can take Thomas all day long. Advantage NEW JERSEY

    Kurt Thomas vs Kenyon Martin

Thomas is past his prime, but he's still consistent. K Mart is a monster waiting to explode, albeit, he is hurt. But he's coming back strong. I think he'll take it at Thomas the whole serious, but it will be a dog fight. Advantage NEW JERSEY

    Nazr Mohammed vs Jason Collins

Both are not fit to be starting centers, but its the Eastern Conference and they are. Both can rebound, Nazr occassionally decides to score. Advantage PUSH

    Bench

Lucious Harris, Rodney Rogers, Aaron Williams, Planinic

    vs

Penny Hardaway, Vin Baker, Shandon Anderson, etc

New York has veterans and New Jersey has clutch shooting and youth. I would give New York an advantage based simply on experience. Advantage NEW YORK

    Coaching

    Lawrence Frank vs Len Wilkens

Newbie coach in Frank vs the All time leader in wins (and losses) in the NBA. Wilkens has been to the top and just doesn't seem to motivated to get there again. I take Frank based on sheer excitement and exuberance. Advantage NEW JERSEY

    3-2 New Jersey wins

I would definitely think New Jersey would win this series, but if injuries flare up again for the Nets the Knicks could sneak in an take the series.

I doubt we do much in the playoffs, and if Houston isn't healthy, which is looking pretty likely, it could get ugly. But at least playoff basketball is returning to the Garden.
