I'd argue that he's a 16 million dollar expiring contract so it's not like they'd be stuck with him long term and they're ****ed salary wise for a year whether Carmelo stays or not believe it or not. After looking at the salaries, even factoring out Carmelo's option these ninjas are on the hook for 66 million+ How in the ever loving **** do you let that happen?
They put themselves in a hole by not making any moves or ignoring deals that were on the table previously. If Carmelo wants to bolt to the Bulls or any team in the offseason, they get squat, so if a team wants to rake them over the coals in a sign and trade, they pretty much have no choice unless they want to just wipe the earth and start clean, but they're so inept that won't even matter. Especially since we're already seeing the end result of that movie they filmed already right now.
