I admire your optimism, but remember, the Knicks got run off the court in the last regular season game between the two. And this was WITHOUT Kidd and Martin. Their being run off the court NOW is hardly a surprise.

And Lenny Wilkens HAS to use his youth more to compete, because the vets are way too slow to match up with the Nets. He has to use Dermarr Johnson, Frank Williams and Mike Sweetney a lot more. Put Frank Williams at the point, Stephon Marbury at shooting guard (or vice versa), Mike Sweetney at power forward, and Dermarr Johnson at small forward. Well, at least experiment with that combination. It's a quicker lineup, and one that might help frustrate the Nets.

In any case, the Knicks were in the game until the 3rd quarter. That's when they lost it. They don't play good D, so when they don't play well offensively, they're going to lose everytime.

That contract buys the Knicks a free throw specialist. That's it, according to the NY Post.

While I hate to rail on a player like this, Houston was useless this season. I really don't know what the deal is with his knee, and if he really believes it's that crucial for him to sit out, that's his prerogative. Knicks shouldn't have wasted a roster spot on him.

I understand that if Houston played right now, he might only make things worse for himself and the team in the future. But the Knicks at the same time, really should have just kept him off the playoff roster. That way, there's no uncertainty for the players as to who's coming into the game. No attitude of "Wait until we get Houston back" or whatever. They're just out there to play their hearts out, and do whatever they need to do to get the win, knowing this is all they have, and nobody's going to come in and save them (Houston definitely won't since he's gimpy and a liability on D to begin with).

How you going to keep a man off the playoff roster that might be back for Game 5 or 6?? You can't do that.

The Knicks's offense let them down. Missing your first 12 shots in the quarter did them in. When you take all those 3s you are going to get long rebounds and those start fast breaks.

Again, if the Knicks escape with game 2, that's a split and that is what they were aiming for?

Well theres no use having a man for game 6 if you can't strech the series that long.
