I seem to recall a similar situation with the Bulls in 1997 as well...
I don't completely buy the whole Laker blowing up fiasco. I'm sure a lot of it is the media putting under the microscope relatively minor incidences that don't mean a whole lot. Malone and Payton did sign 2 year contracts, and did come to LA with the sole intention of winning a championship. I don't see them both abandoning their plans just because of 1 failed year, when they still have a legitimate shot at the title. Right now, I'd bet my money on the Lakers coming back next season with their roster largely in tact. Next year the team will have more experience under its belts, and for some reason the Lakers have a knack for developing their talented young players into solid role players.Comment
