Rick Carlisle and the DPY
Does anyone find it strange how the last three defensive player of the year awards have gone to players Rick has had in his first three years coaching? Is it a coincidence? Or does he motivate his guys to really play hard nosed D and stay focused?

Re: Rick Carlisle and the DPY
As a Pistons fan I would say it is a coinsidence. Artest was already a great defender before "Prick" showed up and probably would have won the DPY last year if he was not always suspended.
What is not a coinsidence is the way that Carlise campaigns for his players to win awards. He did it in Detroit and this year in Indiana.Actually...believe it or not from my physique... I'm a light eater - Clay T. Shaver -

Ahhhh, I didn't know that he campaigned in Detroit too. I heard about it this year about Artest. But he did it for Ben also? What a dedicated coach.Comment

He has campainged for every player, even if they didnt stand a chance. As a matter of fact, when he was Larry Bird's assisnt coach, he was the main guy who campaigned for Jalen Rose MIP award.Comment

Re: Rick Carlisle and the DPY
I think its great that a coach compaigns for his players. Happens all the time at the High School level. Players wont get awards at all unless their coach nominates and compaigns for them in certain sports.Xbox 360 NCAA 12Comment
