WIthout PP the USA wouldn't have even beaten my Puerto Rico national team. He carried the USA team on the 1st 2 rounds. And actually he HAD to shoot a lot since non of the other players except Finley and Andre Miller where hitting a freaking jumpshot. Next time please watch the games from start to finish before talking smack.

i am a true fan of basketball and i've played b-ball for a good part of my life. i'm glad to see the USA lose for the simple fact that maybe now people will see that the pro players have lost their way. i've been saying this for a good 5+ years now: basketball players these days do not play the game with fundamentals. can you explain to me how can a guy shoot 50+ % from the floor and shoot in the 50% range from the foul line? or how is it that the sac kings could not box out a single laker in the last two games of the series (the same can be said for the nets and celtics also)? once again it's a lack of fundamentals, and it doesn't get any better when you have guys going to college for 2 years or less.

let's get real, the college game (both b-ball and football) is a farm system for the pros. so when your talent pool is foregoing their b-ball education because they think they are ready for the next step...this is what you get. don't get me wrong, i love seeing a great dunk just like the next person. however, unlike the average person i appreciate the science of basketball. give me a guy that can step in and take a charge instead of the guy that has a 40" vertical. the NBA's ratings have dropped overall not because jordan retired because he sure as hell didn't save the rating when he came back, but the ratings have dropped because people do not want to see a bunch of show boats running up and down the court. i remember the showtime days w/ magic, kareem, worthy and the gang. they were awesome because they were able to bring speed and finesse to the game, but it was controlled finesse. the showtime lakers were fundamentally sound. although stockton and malone are getting old as dirt, i'd rather see them run a pick and roll rather than see the poster boy of the day fly through the air for the slam.

No he didn't. Detroit was one of the worst teams in the league when Isiah came into the league. The squad around Iverson is better than some of those early Piston teams. For you to come out and say the guys around Iverson are crap,that's just dumb. Coleman is a career 18 point scorer, McKie a career 13 point scorer. He's got guys around him that can put up decent numbers,he just doesn't give them the chance.

I guess I look stupid after my "International b-ball is so non-competitive" tirade a week or two ago. Clearly, the players took it as a joke (much as they do during most of the regular season), and George Karl is quite frankly a joke. Has the guy ever won anything? He does nothing but waste talent and blame his players.

I know enough about the nba to know that Iverson has guys around them that can get the job done if he gives them the chance. Jacking up 45 shots a night isn't giving anyone a chance to do anything.

Katchumo and force_aware made veryt good points of american basketball ... but i want to add something more..
OK ive been basketball fan for about 10 years ... and first time i saw a nba game about 6 years ago or so... And i was used to european basketball ... u know ... the game with fundamentals ... and then i saw nba action ... then i just ... wholy crap ... what is this ... slams bams ... no look passes alley-oops blocks and stuff ... ok finally we had a broadcast of a nba full game ... jipii!!! and what i saw there ... the most boring basketball match of my life. Yepp .. there was fiew dunks but basicly the gameplay was very boring ... the whole game consisted of two things ... PG came with ball and gave it to C or PF (they call it pass --- wow) and after that jump+turnaround shot ... about 60% went in and 40% missed ... that was "interesting" too. i just couldnt stand it at first but then i got used to it and became to think that the 1on1 gameplay is more profitable ...but now i am happy to see that it is not so. Just hope to see some more teamwork in NBA too in future. And talking about streetball syle ... guess u all know and1 mixtapes ... wounder if this cool but ... foolish gameplay goes to NBA...
