Hearing a sign & trade package deal involving Detroit's Greg Monroe and N.O.'s Ryan Anderson has been discussed.

This makes so little sense to me, you have a guy capable of scoring you 20 points off the bench and arguable the best floor-stretcher from his position in the league. And to trade him for Monroe likely means they will be highly overpaying Monroe, which they are already doing with Gordon.

Also they just got Asik, who is known to want no part of a bench role. So do you bench Monroe? Or what?

This only makes sense because with either Monroe or Asik on the court Davis can defend forwards at all times rather than big men. Also maybe Anderson's injury has been harder on him than what was let on. Other than that though, this sounds pointless.

Is it just me or does anyone else find it kind of sad that even a team like Chicago has to resort to the kind of **** they're doing for Melo right now?

Well that's what i was saying. Free agency for stars have gone to the sky now.

LeBron aint even going to visit guys but these players ask to get wined and dined and now pitched too by peers to decide if they want to be on said team, and that still isnt necessarily enough.

It is, but without getting on my soapbox, you could go ahead and blame LeBron for all this.

Again, I understand what he did, but the landscape of the NBA has changed.

I'll leave it at that as I don't want to derail this thread.

You're not the only one. Just seems like desperation. I get they probably want to convince that he's really wanted but I mean come on.These are grown men. If he doesn't already have enough sense to make a decision based on everything presented to him basketball/financial wise then why the hell are you chasing him? I'm just glad the Lakers will meet him at his house for their pitch vs. acting thirsty for his services.

Edit: Though the billboards and stuff looks really cool and I'd like to see my mug up on the die of a stories tall arena lol

I was thinking that too but at the same time regardless, it's kind of pathetic. This aint college recruiting no more

For the record, that stuff wasn't done just for Melo. The screens outside the UC have been there for a while. I was just around there this morning and it normally displays Blackhawks and Bulls stuff

The Miami Heat began free agency with Luol Deng and Kyle Lowry as top targets, but neither player appears attainable.
Deng and Lowry are each in a position in which they would almost certainly need to take less money in order to sign with the Heat.
Nearly the entire core of the Heat have become free agents in order to create cap space to improve the team.

The Dallas Mavericks expect to finalize the terms of Dirk Nowitzki's new contract after their meeting on Wednesday with Carmelo Anthony.
Nowitzki will be prominent in the Mavericks' recruiting pitch to Anthony.
The Mavericks and Nowitzki already have a good idea of what type of contract will be agreed upon due to extension talks before June 30th.

Let me clarify too, it's all a matter of opinion, but I would be OK with orgs doing this for a LeBron or a Jordan or a Shaq or a Duncan.. but for Carmelo Anthony? I sort of cringed tbh but yeah tons of money is at stake so it's understandable...
