It blows my minds these guys live off McDonald's and still make it to the NBA with low bf%

F'n genetics man. Basically they all hit the genetic lottery.

      Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread

For a team that just lost a player who was responsible for a huge chunk of success or for helping them get where they are, the Heat have done OK trying to bounce back. I mean we've still got teams still trying to bounce back to some sort of relevancy after moving an elite player from their team.

Obviously they're probably not going to be making 4 straight Finals run(from judging their team on paper)anytime soon but you figure they'll still be good enough to be among the teams fighting it out for the 4-8th spots in the East.

Hey, it's still "cals in vs cals out" at the most basic level. You may not be that healthy on the inside but you won't be fat if you do it right it.

They certainly hit the lottery though.

Rubio can go back to Europe before he sniffs a max contract. Lol. Dude is nothing special.

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Ricky Rubio's camp have been in contact on a contract extension.

Rubio's agent, Dan Fegan, is seeking a five-year max contract.

David Kahn now infamously gave Kevin Love a four-year extension in order to keep his five-year extension for Rubio. Love's future with the Wolves is now in serious doubt as he can become a free agent in 2015. If Rubio and the Wolves are unable to agree upon an extension, he would become a restricted free agent in 2015.

Flip Saunders took over for Kahn before the 13-14 NBA season.

Difference is the dynamic of the team and most of those guys stayed.

They didn't get rearranged. Miami had a boatload of capspace to use

              Career FG% of .368.

You have to be more than just a good passer to get a max deal in this league, even with the large amount of dumb GM's running around.

The Miami Heat and Dwyane Wade are moving closer to a deal that will be worth approximately $60 million over four seasons.

The Heat renounced their rights to Udonis Haslem on Monday, which will setup paying him $2.7 million on the room mid-level exception.

                Wade will be fine

                  Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread

Many around the NBA widely suspect that an unofficial part of Dwight Howard signing with the Houston Rockets was for the team to accelerate the free agency of Chandler Parsons.

Howard and Parsons are both represented by Dan Fegan.

No one directly involved with the Parsons negotiations, however, would confirm it.

The Rockets could have picked up their team option on Parsons at under $1 million, but they declined it in order for him to become a restricted free agent this offseason instead of an unrestricted free agent in 2015.

Parsons signed a three-year, $46 million contract with the Dallas Mavericks that the Rockets would have matched if they had also signed Chris Bosh.

To be fair, on surface it didn't look like that would be the case either. But despite everything, they've still alright for themselves all things considered because other teams that were in their position(losing an elite player that played a big role in their success)have yet to bounce back or recover from their loss. That was moreso my point.

I got your point Pack I'm just song the dynamic is still different.

KING Houston is not a stable place. They gamble a lot and their core consists of no longer than about a 1 year tenure together at this point.

Makes no sense why they needed to sign Bosh to commit to their own player. Parsons is younger, taller and still has upside while Ariza - the solid veteran role player he can be - is a bit injury prone and plays his best during contract years.

I never understood their desperation to sign Bosh anyway, Terrence Jones is younger, compliments Dwight well and does much of what Bosh would do, and now they've gutted their team and lost three quality contributes for very little in return. Daryl Morey better hope they win a championship soon because don't see him lasting long if the team begins to slide or not improve.

Gets us above the cap minimum. Shouldn't take too many minutes away from Kanter, Favors, and Gobert.

Wonder what happens to Jeremy Evans, now? He put up good numbers for them last year when finally given some time.

Looks like the Wizard may need to retain both Seraphin and Gooden now that Booker is gone.

I'd expect Evans to get the nod over Booker more often than not. He's finally got a jumper and can space the floor. He contributes on the boards, too.
