Players like Kyrie really hurt the street cred of "Max Players". Nothing against the guy, I'm just sick of borderline all stars getting the Max. If I was on of the 5 or 6 true superstars in the league I would be upset that these kind of players make the same money.

A lot of it is based on how good the player will be in a few years. Kyrie still has plenty of upside.

A max for Kyrie isn't the same as a max for a longer tenured player like LeBron or Melo. LeBron isn't making the max but hell make more than Kyrie next year, for example. Dont think he's necessarily worth the 12-13 million either, but I was just pointing out not all max deals are created equal.

As to what Ex said. If there was ever a case of someone doing that I don't think this is it. With his injury history, his somewhat disappointing year, and the whispers of Marbury/Francis etc comparisons.. He'd be a fool to turn down the guaranteed money. Even if Cleveland is a bit of a mess.

To be fair All-Star MVP is meaningless. He is definitely a fringe All-Star

It's meaningless, but it's hard to call him a fringe All-Star when he was voted on as a starter and won the MVP.

Still want to see what he can do when he's not on a **** team and in a **** system.

The paying based on what they could be isn't how it should be..

Like MJ said in an interview..they're being paid on potential..not how it should be. You should have to prove yourself before you get the max money.

There was an article out there somewhere that essentially said that the new contract set up under the CBA, which was designed to help small market teams, is actually hurting them. I'm racking my brain (and google) trying to remember the article and its reasoning... anyone know what I'm getting at?

kyrie is a less athletic westbrook who cant defend his own shadow... honestly i wouldnt even call him all-star talent. Offensively, possibly, all around hell no

@sportsbuck i think i know what you are refering too, small markets giving maxes earlier to guys who probably dont deserve it will forever keep them in mediocrity

Kyrie is a less athletic Westbrook?

The comparisons get sillier and sillier I see.

He might literally be the best offensive point guard in the league behind the freak that is CP3.

I would take Kyrie's offensive game over all of those. Also, hes at least 3 years younger than all of them.

For me it's CP3 > Curry > Rosewhenhealthysonever > Kyrie > Westbrook > Lillard. But they're all so good that it's difficult. A lot of different rankings could be justifiable.

I don't think Kyrie is a top 5 PG and think he's overrated, but to say he's not an all star talent isn't fair. He is definitely an all star caliber PG, I just think he's a step below the "top" ones.

What does age have to do with anything? I thought we were just talking about their offensive game.
