    Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread

You realize if he wanted to he could've done a sign and trade to somewhere like Dallas right (before the whole chandler parsons or deal)? If he wanted the money that bad he didn't necessarily have to stay in NY. I mean you act like that if he went to the bulls they are instantly title contenders and you act like they are so attractive as winners. I'm sorry but no player looks forward to playing with rose bc they don't know if he's playing. I just don't understand how you can take to the bank part of what he says and not the rest. He said on other occasions his family was happy in NY and he like the area yet you ignore that and focus on his winning quote. Personally I never buy in to anything an athlete says bc they always have to worry about rubbing someone the wrong way. I think you just got your hopes up when u thought u might land a big FA and it didn't happen and now your mad and attacking the guy based on quotes that only support your argument. Fact is you shouldn't use an athletes quotes for your argument

Fair enough. I hear you both.

Just know when this dude starts bitching again about how they're losing and he's irritated about playing there, you know I'm coming through...lol.

I mean if we all took everything an athlete said as what they whole heartedly mean we would agree with you and be on your side.

Kinda changing subject tho. I do think Phil could have a decent plan in place next year after they unload contracts. The only bad thing is, from what I heard the only big FA's I've heard are LA, rondo, and Kevin love (probably missing one) LA is probably resigning and Kevin love is not going to NY. I don't think rondo would be a good fit in NY, I feel like he's a guy who needs the ball in his hands to be effective.

The hell are you talking about? Derrick Rose had been here two years at that point.

You said they weren't supposed to be contenders so quickly. Well, it doesn't hurt when you get the number 1 overall pick. Yeah, yeah, I know about Anthony Bennett.

I guess I'm the only one who agrees with ThreeKing. Melo said before he doesn't care about money and he wants to win. Yet he signs on with the Knicks who couldn't even make the Playoffs last season, in the East, and for the max. I get athletes just say bull**** most of the time, but I can also see where ThreeKing gets a little riled up when reading these comments from Melo.

If he didn't care about money and wanted to win he would've signed on with the Bulls or any number of teams that could've offered him that. Yet he signed on with the team that gives him the least chance to win and gives him the most money.

I agree too, I just weighed the risk of the .0000000000001% chance of me getting carpal tunnel from typing it and it didn't seem worth it lol

Going into Thibs' first season is what I was talking about. They weren't supposed to be contenders for the title. They were expected to finish in the 5-8 range in the east that year even after they're signings that offseason. Unless Derrick Rose died, came back from the dead as a new Derrick Rose and wiped our memories of his previous self and got drafted first overall by the Bulls that offseason, the Bulls being "given" the number one pick as you say doesn't have anything to do with the discussion.

They need to be called out on their bull****. Just like when Kobe claimed all he cared about was winning 6th but then took that huge contract. I don't take him as seriously since then.

Having said that, I think Melo honestly thinks he will have a shot at a title with the knicks at some point. Wich may very well be true. I think Phil will build a contender really soon.

I still don't get why Phil Jackson has this aura about him from so many that he's going to turn this around. He's not Pat Riley. At least Pat built teams for his reputation that he gets the benefit of the doubt on everything for. Phil has never built anything. Honestly, before he took this job, the biggest criticism of Phil was that he always walked into good situations and won. There are people that actually question how good a coach he really is for that reason, but now there's a lot of belief in Phil to build the Knicks into a winner? Not saying he can't do it, but man I don't get the sentiment he's gotten around basketball circles.
