So you're 100% comfortable with Melo guarding guys like Z-Bo, Aldridge, Love, Pau, and Dirk? Even some of the younger guys have an immense size and strength advantage over him.

Hope it's just a stupid rumor
Yeah, I've come to terms with the idea of superteams. They're here and they aren't going anywhere. It's clear. But LeBron, Wade, Bosh, Melo and whatever ring chasers they want? If they pull it off, obviously they've got UD and Birdman coming back on cheaper deals for them to not pick up their player options.

I get that they'd still have to play the games and I suppose there could be fun in seeing teams trying to beat them like currently. But just like it is now only worse, healthy D-Wade or not, they have LeBron James and you have to guard him with the ball in his hands and if you help on him, he's passing to Melo. If you help on him, he's passing to Wade and if by some miracle you can recover to him, he's already made the pass to Bosh. It's not fun picking your favorite team in 2K and then the other player picks the east or west All-Stars and it's not fun to basically have that happening in the real NBA either.

id trade wade for melo if i was miami then go sign a defensive 2.

i would actually like to see a 4 superstar team just because it should be supremely entertaining to see that scoring

--there is also the report i saw on realgm early today of lebron and melo opting in for this next season then teaming up in NY....

We've gotten away with Battier and Lewis playing at the 4 before so I'm sure Melo will able to adapt. But with more physical and stronger guys like Z-Bo and Griffin, I'm sure Spo would rather opt with guys like UD or Birdman and maybe go with a line-up featuring LeBron at the point and Melo at the 3. I think this move helps LeBron immensely as Spo can reduce his minutes during the regular season and LeBron can also exert more energy on the defensive end much early on in the game. Again I don't know how Melo will gel with the team and it's all speculations right now.

              Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread

melo is far better suited for the 4 than anyone miami currently has not named lebron

i believe melo is best when he is @ the 4, along with his team

He has an inside and outside game and he can attack the glass, hes also not a bad post defender when he buys in.

--as far as the 4 of them being payed im guessing something like $12mil each ish, or lebron taking a huge paycut to get the other guys around what they have now.

---lebron just made 30 mil + with beats selling so he doesnt need that contract lol

while we are at it lets bring paul pierce in also, and start a lineup of wade-pierce-james-melo-bosh then bring ray, cole, birdfish, haslem off the bench

on the love front he said this

"No matter what the outcome is, I just want to end up in a great place where I can win. At the end of the day, I've played six years, haven't made the playoffs yet, that burns me and hurts my heart, so I really want to be playing."

--i take it hes going to some team in the east since that team will essentially be penciled in for a playoff spot

I think I would be more afraid of the things MIA may actually do this summer...

get a younger version of Birdman at the center position. grab a competent PG and a mid level creator, and they are right square in the mix again...smh

I believe Stephen A. mentioned this could happen. I wouldn't discredit it, because he's the one who broke the news about those 3 teaming up in 2010. I remember so many people jumping his **** for it back then, but he was right.

EDIT: if this were to happen, you could also forget playing 2K15 online this year. lol

I want no part of Melo in Miami.. But the idea that he would get eaten alive by 4's defensively is laughable. Miami has won playoff series using Battier, Lewis, and even James Jones in their lineup. They'd be fine with Melo too..

Assuming the other teams power forward did score on him, it would be an even larger matchup at the other end. Teams would almost have to play smaller to stand a chance.

Also keep in mind, Melo's defensive lapses have never been guarding a big guy. It's always been an issue in team concept. He doesn't know when to rotate, when to help, doesn't see his man cut. His issues are more team oriented than anything individual. Also, Miami doesn't play in the West. The only time you have to worry about him defending those bigs would be in the finals.

I saw that too. I also saw that Flip doesn't wanna move him to Boston. Not sure how true any of that is.
