Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
This move makes little sense on our part. Its like the lakers are just doing things just to do it now. Klay isnt even gonna be anything other than a 3rd option on a team other than golden state anyway. Playing kobe at the 3 is a bad idea, not that we know if thats the plan cuz we still have no coach. So far i think the lakers are stuck, and unless we make a move or draft a star, we are more or less screwed. If russell westbrook and james harden or kevin love wanna come home, now would be the time to do it.Lakers

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Why do Nash and Thad have to be involved? I'm not saying the Sixers would do that trade but they'd have an even less incentive to do it if they took on Nash and lost Young in the process. But I'm a fan of MCW and would love to have him on the Lakers.

Nash is an expiring contract. If you're a young rebuilding team and you can't add a young player or a draft pick, an expiring is the next best thing.
Thad is in any and every trade possibility that's even being discussed. My guess is they are just ready to move on from him. Likely draft a forward. If it goes through, they'll have 3 top 10 picks.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
but just earlier today i saw
"I think probably right now unlikely. It's the best I can do for you. But I will say this: If you asked me last year at this time would we be in a situation to grab an (Andre) Iguodala, I would have said the same thing.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Per Woj
The Chicago Bulls are pursuing a trade for Orlando Magic swingman Arron Afflalo, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Afflalo, 28, has two years left on his contract – including an Early Termination Option (ETO) provision next summer – and front office executives believe the Magic are prioritizing a trade for Afflalo over working to extend his contract.
It is unclear how the Bulls' pursuit of Afflalo would impact the franchise's free-agent interest in New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony.
The Bulls are searching for shooting to surround the returning Derrick Rose, and Afflalo is coming off his best offensive season, averaging 18.2 points per game on 45.9 percent shooting.
Chicago owns the 16th and 19th overall picks in the draft, and assuredly one of those selections would be included in a possible package with the Magic. Orlando has the fourth and 12th picks in Thursday's draft and a rapidly developing young core of talent, including guard Victor Oladipo and center Nikola Vucevic.
The Bulls have shown a strong interest in moving one of their top picks in a deal and have been open to trading the 19th overall pick for a future first-round selection, league sources said. The Bulls are trying to be careful to preserve salary cap space for July free agency and are leery of two rookie-scale first-round picks on the roster, sources said.
Afflalo will make $7.5 million this upcoming season and can opt in to a $7.75 million deal in the summer of 2015.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
- It makes sense for CHI in terms of on court, but doesnt makes sense in terms of money and cap related. Aaron + one of their picks makes more than the 2 picks projected salaries, lol.
They could be moving away from Anthony and Love ... unless, it is true that Phil J was considering to accept Boozer (expiring) back in a S&T ... Adding Carmelo & Aaron would be great ... interesting anyways.
-----------
- GSW are really risking passing on getting another superstar. If the asked price was Thompson, Lee and their first pick I think that is acceptable. Lee was an all star, Thompson can be one and the pick might have upside ... but ... Love is one of those special players and happens to fit in nicely into their schemes.
Offensively they wouldnt really miss anything if Martin is included and defensively, they could just go after some of those 3&D guy(s) - that seem to grow on threes - to lessen what is missed on D. I would try and go after someone like Tucker (PHO) and bring KM off the bench.
---------
- PHI shouldnt be trading both MCW nor Thadews, at least not for Nash & 7th pick. Nash would want to be bought out, MCW is + than 7th pick and they eventualy can get some first rounder for Thad somewhereelse. They would be better offering LAL Thad & the 10 pick (maybe a couple of their unlimited 2nd rounders) just for 7th and if need be, look for a better MCW deal (maybe from ORL, 4th & Aaron ?).
Specially if Nash gets bought out, the LAL rumored deal would not cut it to PHI neither financially, as they would have such a low payroll that they would get surely fined for missing the lower fllor requeriment.
--------
At any case, offseason is just warming up and given all the variables could be one of the best in a long time, am excited and the draft and july 1st cant seem to come soon enough !Last edited by ffaacc03; 06-21-2014, 12:38 PM.Comment
