Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
Zach Randolph and the Memphis Grizzlies have hit an impasse in discussions on a contract extension and he's seriously considering using his early termination option to become a free agent.
Raymond Brothers, Randolph's agent, has been talks with Chris Wallace for several weeks.
Memphis has held firm on a three-year extension, but Randolph has preferred the security of four years, league sources said.
Randolph is an extremely popular player in Memphis and has expressed a desire to retire with the franchise.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
ZBo looked good again in the playoffs, but throughout the regular season he wasn't really a "must have" player. In quite a few matchups Davis actually looked better than him.
If they could get Gasol for cheaper and bring in a decent wing scorer I think they should be all over that.
Though this would be yet another fan favorite they've gotten rid of, so I guess there is always that to think about.

Am I the only one who think there would be a slight dropoff going from Randolph/Gasol to the Gasol Bros?#RespectTheCultureComment

You either got inside info or we playing hypotheticals lol.
For the record, if it's a question of Z Bo, Marc or Pau, Marc then I like the Z Bo, Marc combo more.

2014 Off-Season Thread
Depends. I thought Pau looked better this past season than he has the past few playing with Kobe and everyone else they brought in.. Production wise there isn't a whole lot of difference.. Individually Gasol+Randolph is better than Gasol+Gasol. But Gasol+Gasol might have better chemistry together, ZBo has a tendency to put his head down and "black-hole" his way around defenders to try and score. Pau would be more open to passing which may or may not be a good thing for them, idk.
Defensively ZBo was much better the past few years. But now he isn't really quick enough to stay in front of guys. He's strong so it's tough to get position or move him around, but he can't contest shots very well. At least Pau is a good shot blocker.
I think it comes down to money. Like I said a Gasol+Gasol duo might be a slight drop off, but ZBo isn't worth overpaying for. If you bring in Gasol for cheaper and add someone else, hopefully someone who can score a little, then I think that will greatly outweigh just ZBo alone.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
It'd be cool seeing them on the same squad though. Then they should trade Conley for Rubio straight up, then bring in Rudy Fernandez and Juan Carlos Navarro and go from there.
I also think that each set of brothers in the league (siblings, not slang talk) should be on the same team. Phoenix has the right idea with the Morris twins. Brooklyn should go after Robin Lopez and all of the Plumlees, and Charlotte should round up the Zellers.

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
OJ, Pau might have put up good numbers but look at who was on that trash team. Someone had to put numbers up on a losing team, it was Pau. His effort looked half *** all year and his defense worse. No real urgency.Comment

Re: 2014 Off-Season Thread
But he put them up barely playing over 30 minutes, and more efficiently than ZBo despite being the obvious "go to" guy.
I think he compliments Gasol and Conley better, but that might be about it.
Like I said, I think it depends on how much cheaper and what can be done with the extra money. Because either one of them should start to see a drop in minutes with Davis and Koufos both improving.
