I've really lost a lot of faith in Indiana challenging Miami. They are still capable of getting the upset, but that margin has diminished substantially, IMO. Roy Hibbert is going to need to find some consistency and defend the paint like it's his home. The perimeter players will need to play under control and not turnover the ball. While, Ian, Luis and Evan Turner will need to give them good play off the bench. David West and Paul George need to beat or match their counterparts.

With all that said, Miami in 5 or 6.

I notice you guys were talking about Heat guards and getting into the lane. Norris and Mario are not about getting into the lane (once in a while). But their main role is pressing up on the opponents pg (steals) and shooting 3's. But I will say I would be worried about LeBron and Wade cause trouble for the Pacers when getting into the lane. Because they are just like Teague and Wall when it comes down to it. You have to pick them up early in transition and you must keep them out of the lane. It's going to be a great series. I don't know what's going to happen.

Also look out for Haslem sightings....

I dunno I think Heat in 7 games. Heat haven't really been challenged too much yet in the playoffs, so i think pacers will give them a shock. But in the end, they are the heat.

Neither does the pacers aka george hill lol so the pg spot is cancelled out already

Yet earlier in the year you told me the only way the Heat beat the Pacers is if Indy is hit with injuries?

Anyway like I said in the other thread I still don't trust this team. It's nice to be in this place and have a chance to do exactly what the team set out to do before the season started, but the way they've gotten here is discouraging. I feel like I've said this a million times this season, but if the Pacers play like they're capable of, they are going to win. At their best I feel they're better than Miami this year, but they haven't played consistently at their best since Feb. Therein lies the problem and why I think Indy might come up short once again.

In the end, I think we need to throw everything out though. This team talked all year about having the 1 seed and playing Miami. Despite their struggles, they are here now and have the chance to back it up and do exactly what they wanted. If they lose, there is no excuses.

Wasn't that when Miami was playing awful and Indy was looking like 72-10 Chicago?

I knew they'd come back to Earth, but I always felt we would still win, not easily though. With the recent struggles and back to the Granger trade, as well as Miami picking up the intensity, I don't see us losing to Indiana.

So I guess I shouldn't have said "never worried" although my early season concerns were more about Miami playing bad than Indy playing great.

I don't think Miami played bad until March though, but anyway..

As far as the keys to the series for Indy they're pretty obvious. Attack them the way they've always attacked them, but with better bench production. They also need to take advantage of having homecourt.

Oh no doubt he was huge during the regular season series. Oden actually did a good effort altering shots and protecting the rim but struggled mightily against Hibbert and pretty much let him catch the ball wherever he wanted. Haslem on the other hand kept Hibbert in check by fronting on him and making sure he doesn't get into position. I expect Spo to start Haslem in this series, replacing Battier.

Indy is the biggest problem for the Heat in both conferences in my opinion.. But Indy right now, even when playing good, just isn't the Indy we saw earlier in the season. I expect a tough series, but I think Miami can take it in 6..

Either way I like the Pacers, so I'm glad it's these two teams that are playing. If Miami were to miss the finals this is who I would want it to be that beat them.

Agreed. Indy would be the team I'd want to lose to in the East.

                                Look who's coming back:

Former Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson has agreed to a multiyear deal to rejoin ESPN’s lead NBA announcing team.

Jackson is scheduled to work the Eastern Conference finals and NBA Finals with Mike Breen and Jeff Van Gundy. They called the last of their five straight NBA Finals together in 2011. ESPN is making the announcement Saturday.
