maybe he thinks that since the refs were white, the opposition was probably thinking, putting another white guy on Bird would prevent him from getting "extra benefits", like if star power wasn't enough. i don't know, just think that's what Bird was tryin' to say in a subtle way.

Re: Look at these comments made by Larry Bird
Well, a lot of people say that NBA is a black man's game just because the greatest players of that sport are blacks. NHL also has more white players that are tag the greatest player to ever step into the ice, does that make NHL a white man's game?
Personally I see nothing wrong with Bird's comments as I don't have a malicious mind and I view all people in this world equal. But either way sports no matter what it is (Hockey, Basketball, Football and etc.), is a sport for everybody and not just for an specific race.Comment

I dont know if they are "turning", who knows if he is the best? And where are all the up and coming black hockey players?
Dont get me wrong, I hope there continue to be more minorities of all skin pigments in hockey--but one guy doesnt make "the tide turn".Xbox 360 NCAA 12Comment

Re: Look at these comments made by Larry Bird
Last time I checked, U dont have to be that atheletic to play hockey. Just need to know how to ice skate and handle a puck, lol. Oh, and how to fight.
But anyway, I think what Bird was talking about being insulted by having a white guy guarding him. I think he was saying, since most of the bast atheletes in the world and the NBA are black, usually, they're the best defenders. You've never seen a white dude when DPOY have U? He was insulted because the other coach didnt think enough of him to put a good(supposedly black) defender on him, because Larry Bird, himself, was white. Thats how I read it.Comment
