Re: Should Dallas Even Bother Trading for Shaq?

early speculation here is that pavel will not be ready to contribute until shaq's contract and effectiveness is up anyways. so why not make a deal for shaq and try to get a few titles and then have another 7 footer ready to go after that?

If they don't trade for shaq, then Nash will DEFINITELY be here. They aren't going to let him go. He's the heart of the team.

They would trade him in a deal for shaq though. Cause they'd rather trade him than dirk.

As for Stackhouse going to NY, I'm not sure that's going to happen anymore. The nelsons have said he's their sixth man and that he's receptive to the idea.

    He replaces jaimison.

They didn't rule out trading him to someone but at this point, I dont' think it's going to happen.

And the jury's still WAY out on Pavel. It's a chance that they felt was worth the risk. A first round pick next year. They feel he's bigger than shawn bradley (as in he's got a bigger base). + he's got more heart than bradley.

I think in a few years, he could be an actual good white center.
I'm sofa king, we Todd Ed.

Re: Should Dallas Even Bother Trading for Shaq?

All you guys are all talking about future. In a business perspective there is no such thing as tommorrow when it comes to money. If you could grab the sure money now, grab it now and don't wait. Those players that you guys said "would be great in the future" also has a 50% chances of just being an average or worst. Honestly, how many players you can count now that was drafted 3 years ago that was said to be "has a lot of potentials"? Or better yet 5 years ago?

I agree with Cuban's decision to get a dominant Center now and make use of Shaq's talent while he is still worth something. Also, Shaq is a kind of player that doesn't drop from the sky every year. He is not potential, he is the best Center in the NBA today. His prime might be declining, but he is still being respected. Even the beast of the East Ben Wallace can't control him. Pistons has to throw in Okur, Campbell and both Wallaces to control Shaq. Shaq though needs a good PG that knows how to pass the ball and with the aid of Fortson on the low post and Finley as a spot up shooter, they should be a strong contender for the Finals. Though that lineup would be complete with Dirk. And if Payton can also be included in the trade, he should have no trouble passing the ball on the low post, all he has to do is who to pass the ball, he has Shaq on the low post and Finley and Dirk on the outside.

I was thinking about it and right now it just doesn't make sense for Dallas to trade for Shaq. Just look at their future core: Devin Harris, Marquis Daniels (convince him to resign with promise of more playing time), Josh Howard, and and the russian monster Podkolzine. I say let Nash walk, play and play harris, Trade stack to NY for Kurt and Dikembe. So now Dallas would have Mutumbo, Laetner, and Walker all off the books minus Nash leaving this year but still have A great team for the future with Harris, Daniels, Howard, Dirk, and Pavel. Not to mention Kurt and Najera of the bench. If these players mature, they could be a beast for many years. Oh, and forgot Finley and Fortson(another good bench player) Until Finleys contract runs out, they could stagger his time at the 2 and 3 giving both Daniels and Howard PT. This hurts what LA could possibly get for Shaq as dallas had the best offer. But I think they would be better off waiting for Podkolzine than having 2 years of good shaq and two years of 500lb shaq

YES. with shaq and nowitzki they become the favorites to win the championship.

With their current team they are one of several good western conference teams.

did anyone see pavo walk ? he had trouble walking from the seat to the stage
The guy is a huge project. - They will be lucky if he can run the floor and stays healthy. He could be the next Gheorge Muresean in 3or5 years (look it up big georghe was a good 7th/8th man for washington for a few years )
