I've come to the conclusion that I wouldn't want Shaq on my team (Knicks). This guy is just going to cost too much in the process (players) plus more money (the extension).

If Mark Cuban wants to spend the money and give up some of his younger talent, go right ahead.

It'll be weird seeing Shaq in a 3rd uniform. I wonder if Denver has enough room to sign him? That seems like it would be a great fit.

    Peace Shaq.

<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">Shoot, bring on the most dominate big man in the NBA! Like i've posted in another thread, Shaq supposedly said that he wouldn't come here in exchange for Dirk. Dirk has to be here. Shaq in the middle in Dallas means a lot of wide open looks for one of the best shooting teams in the league. Bring him on!

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

I know what you're saying. I would like Shaq on my team as well, just not at that price.

If he goes to Dallas, you HAVE to win the championship in the next 2 years or else it's a wrap. Yeah, you have a good chance, but you better come through.

If Dirk's not going, wouldn't Finley have to go then? Nash definitely won't be back.

I dunno man, cap hell is the worst and takes years to get out of.

Can someone throw out Dallas' potential lineup if the trades are worked out. Like who would be the other 3 starters next to Shaq and Dirk?

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

A healthy in shape shaq is an automatic to trip to at least the 2nd round of the playoffs. Im not saying he has to be in amazing shape - he was in pretty good shape this playoffs. People forget how many times he has gone strong while being fouled , he has a lot of miles on his very tall frame...

2 probs could occur with shaq - He could get hurt and only last a year , or he could get bored and only last 2 years.
Either way I think he is worth even a slew of allstars or quality players. Nowitzki obviously is not being offered , because although he doesnt do amazing dunks he is one of the top 10 probably top 5 players in the NBA. He puts up the scoring and rebounding. He gets a lot of points for few shots and turnovers compared with the assists and rebounds he racks up. His defense is very underrated , people forget how well he moves for a man his height and weight. For those that don't see Nowitzki regularly he has overcome his weakness on the boards to a degree that it is now a strength and his 3point shooting is still great.

Nowitzki is right up there with Bryant and Tmac as the next-level stars right under Shaq , Duncan, Garnett... They aren't trading him , and the question becomes how ugly is shaq going to get , because if the lakers honestly will not swing a deal w/out Dirk , then we are going to see shaq and Kobe back together and it could get very ugly with the way Kobe has been courted , the way kobe wasn't tradable while Shaq was on the blocks for any willing bidder ...

Dallas probably will not get shaq because any basketball man knows that Nowitzki and Shaq are better then anyone that anyone could put together unless Lebron and Duncan got to some serious team work a la Stockton Malone. Not gonna happen tho lol. Shaq and Nowitzki and there are a million point guards around even some veterans , then they could go defense at the 2 guard position easily , then they are just a servicable powerforward and a bench away from the title. Cuban would jump on the oppurtunity. Shaq is Aging rapidly and may only be the best player for another season and a top 5 player maybe another 2 seasons. I am so hoping that i am wrong and Shaq teams with Dirk.

My arguement is shaq is worth it unless you are giving up an elite superstar that figures to give you more value over a longer period of time.

He had improve each year in the league until this year. Why sit around and hope Dirk continues to improve and can maybe get us to the finals while with Shaq, it's a much better chance that we could get there.

Finley ain't going anywhere. He had 4 years 66 million left on his contract.

Oh, at the celebrity softball game here yesterday, Cuban was adamant about Dirk not being traded. I don't know how he'l get it done but I just hope we have enough pieces left if he does get it done. Also, I doubt Laetner and Stackhouse ever suit up for the Mavs.

there's rumors Dallas is trying to get Ilguaskas from the cavs so they can then ship him off to LA.

To me, Kidd as a player can function from fast break or to any situation. His skills as a PG is enough to draw attention and create space for Shaq in the low post and pass the ball for a sure fire labamba slam. And about the fast break thing, Jefferson can handle it.

which of these packages would sound the best to you if you were the Lakers GM

Indiana - JO (young All-star, one of the 3 best frontcourt players in the NBA)
                        Artest (all-star)

LA would do that deal in a second, but i doubt that Indiana would

Dallas - Nash in a sign and trade (one of the 3 best PGs in the league, went to college in Cali, perrenial all-star)
Howard (young future all-star, would be a great compliment to Kobe)
Stackhouse (veteran scorer to compliment Kobe)
'toine (vet all-star, would provide cap relief next season)
                        Fortson (filler)
Laettner (serviceable vet front court player)
1st round pick next year (Dallas traded 1st round pick in 2006 for Pavel)

That is an entire team with a 6th man and a draft pick - including 3 vet all-stars, and one possible future all-star. I wonder if a lineup like that would give LA flexibility and compliment Kobe.

Sacramento - Bibby (can you imagine the pick and rolls that Bibby and Kobe could run)
Peja (all-star, LA needs outside shooting)
                        Miller (all-star center)
                        1st round pick

This would be a great trade for LA but i dont think that either of these teams would trade to their rival.

                        Pheonix - Omare (all-star)
                        Marion (all-star)
                        1st round pick

i dont think that LA would do that trade

NJ - Kidd (one of the 3 best PGs in league)
                        Martin (all-star)
                        1st round pick

i think that both teams would like this trade but Shaq probably wouldnt accept it

I would take the Indiana trade. Im not a GM but i did stay at a Holiday Inn express last night

                            1st round pick

i dont think that LA would do that trade

NJ - Kidd (one of the 3 best PGs in league)
                            Martin (all-star)
                            1st round pick

i think that both teams would like this trade but Shaq probably wouldnt accept it

I would take the Indiana trade. Im not a GM but i did stay at a Holiday Inn express last night

Where are you hearing these rumors from or are you making them up yourself?

Shaq will cost alot, but some of those deals would just gut a roster. I don't know why Sacramento would give up so much. I don't know why Indy would sacrifice their future in that deal.

The only one that sounded somewhat realistic would be the Phoenix deal IMO. And I doubt that happens because it seems like PHX wants to keep Amare or Marion, not give up both.

Shaq's movement is gonna tilt the league and possibly screw one organization out of it's future.
